Get ready for the next era in retail—one that will be characterized by far fewer shops and smaller stores.
On Tuesday, Sears said that it will shutter its flagship store in downtown Chicago in April. It's the latest of about 300 store closures in the U.S. that Sears has made since 2010. The news follows announcements earlier this month of multiple store closings from major department stores J.C. Penney and Macy's.

Customers stop going to those stores when they can shop online & get every color & size choice that they can't find in the actual store.

ReplyDeleteEven places whose business is good are scaling back employees, look at grocery stores now with self check out isles. Technology is helping the unemployment picture.
ReplyDeletePoliticians won't fess up to it, even not "if," but "when" people are robbed in grocery store parking lots for their food!
Maybe when we need food we can eat that $1 million fireboat? What a waste of money, even if there were a fire Brew River the fire engines from station 16 would be there before the fireboat was started and warmed up for two minutes! Heck I'll bet the engines from station 2 would be there before the fireboat.

Your comment has me concerned that the robbery issues might be leaning the populace in favor of on line shopping.The scales may have tipped way farther than I thought.
