WASHINGTON — A man who planned a mass shooting at the headquarters of a conservative Christian lobbying group in Washington last year was sentenced Thursday to 25 years in prison for the plot that injured a security guard.
Floyd Corkins II was carrying 15 Chick-fil-A sandwiches and nearly 100 rounds of ammunition during the shooting at the headquarters of the Family Research Council. He later told authorities he planned to kill as many people as possible and to smear the sandwiches in his victims’ faces as a political statement. Chick-fil-A was making headlines at the time because of its president’s opposition to gay marriage, and the Family Research Council also opposes gay marriage.

Rahm's Chicago: 21 Homicides 78 Shot To Date In September
Cooler weather began to settle in to Rahm Emanuel’s bloody Chicago over last weekend, bringing a slight relief to the ongoing violence the city has experienced this summer, but residents are still concerned about their safety on Chicago’s deadly streets for good reason.
HeyJackass.com reports, while there were just two people killed this past weekend with nine shot, however, there has been a staggering 21 homicides, 19 from shootings, with a 78 shot and injured so far this September—the same number dead to date as September 2012.

Court: Phone Companies Have Never Challenged NSA Record Collection
The secret court that determined it was legal for the National Security Agency to collect and store nearly all the phone records of the U.S. public has revealed that no telecommunications company has ever challenged the government's order to turn over records to the agency.
The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court also explained its judgment that Fourth Amendment protections against unreasonable search and seizure do not apply to business records, such as phone-call logs. It references a 1979 Supreme Court decision which found there is no expectation of privacy with regard to phone records, The Wall Street Journal reports.

Unemployment Benefit Applications Rise To 309K
WASHINGTON — The number of people seeking U.S. unemployment benefits rose 15,000 last week to a seasonally adjusted 309,000. But the data was distorted for the second straight week by reporting delays.
The Labor Department says the less volatile four-week average fell 7,000 to 314,750, the lowest in nearly six years.
Applications plummeted two weeks ago when California and Nevada were unable to report all their data because of computer upgrades in both states.

ALL OUTDOOR CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS BANNED
Don’t expect to see Christmas lights, Christmas trees, or other Christmas decorations in one part of Berlin, Germany, even on private property, after officials in the Kreuzberg district banned the display of anything that celebrates the Christian holiday – because someone might be offended.
“Why should religious festivals be celebrated in public?” asked Socialist Party Councilor Martin Becker, according to the German news site MMNews.de.
The censorship was supported by the left-wing councilman as a response to demands by Muslims in the district that they be allowed to celebrate the end of Ramadan in the streets. Due to a fear of noise complaints, council officials decided that the best solution was to ban all religious festivals from being publicly celebrated in the district.

Walmart Foundation Awards $37,000 Grant To Salisbury Nonprofit
SALISBURY (September 19, 2013) – Today, the Walmart Foundation announced it will provide a $37,000 grant to Maintaining Active Citizens Inc. (MAC) through the Foundation’s State Giving Program. The grant will support the nonprofit’s principle that older individuals are entitled to dignity, security, physical, mental, and social well-being; and to full participation in society. The donation will specifically go toward supporting the organization’s Lower Eastern Shore Meals on Wheels and Senior Center lunch programs.
“We are committed to providing older persons with a full range of services which allow them to live a routine life and our Meals on Wheels program is an integral part of that commitment,” said MAC representative Carolyn Stegman. “The Walmart Foundation’s generous grant ensures that waitlisted individuals can become full participants of the Meals on Wheels program. The donation also assures that meal delivery remains at four days a week.”
Last year, MAC delivered close to 65,000 meals to homebound frail and vulnerable seniors, and provided just over 32,000 lunches in one day respite center and 12 senior centers throughout Dorchester, Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester counties. Due to funding cuts including sequestration reductions, the waitlist for Meals on Wheels had increased.
“The Walmart Foundation understands that organizations such as Maintaining Active Citizens Inc. are essential to building stronger communities,” said Nina Albert, Director of Community Affairs for Walmart. “We are hopeful that MAC members are positively affected by this grant and the Foundation’s impact is largely felt.”
The Walmart Foundation’s State Giving Program supports organizations that create opportunities so people can live better, awarding grants that have a long-lasting, positive impact on communities in Maryland and across the U.S.
To be considered for support, prospective grantee organizations must submit applications through the Walmart Foundation State Giving Program’s online grant application. Applicants must have a current 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status in order to meet the program’s minimum eligibility criteria. Additional information about the program’s funding guidelines and application process are available online at www.walmartfoundation.org/stategiving.

Steele Makes A Decision About A Possible Run For Governor
Michael Steele tells WBAL News he has decided not to run for governor.
The former Maryland Lt. Governor tells WBAL's Scott Wykoff he spent the summer considering a run and has now decided that he won't run for governor in 2012.
"I took most of the summer and right up until about Labor Day or so to take a look at the opportunity to run with an open seat here in Maryland and with the dynamics of the economy here in the state and just the general opportunity to really get back into public service," Steele told WBAL's Scott Wykoff. "After looking at it and sort of evaluating the things that I am doing, some opportunities that I have under taken that are being to take off a little bit, I decided not to pursue it at this time."

Part 1. “Mr. George Bush Of The Central Intelligence Agency”
What possible connection could there have been between George H.W. Bush and the assassination of John F. Kennedy? Or between the C.I.A. and the assassination? Or between Bush and the C.I.A.? For some people, apparently, making such connections was as dangerous as letting one live wire touch another.
In his book, Family of Secrets: The Bush Dynasty, America’s Invisible Government and the Hidden History of the Last Fifty Years, Russ Baker, editor of WhoWhatWhy, documents some of the strangest and least known events relating to the assassination, whose 50th anniversary falls this November 22.
This is the first installment of a ten-part series, featuring excerpts from relevant chapters of the book. (The excerpts in Part 1 come from Chapter 2 of the book, and the titles and subtitles have been changed for this publication.)
Notes: (1) Although these excerpts do not contain footnotes, the book itself is heavily footnoted and exhaustively sourced. (2) To distinguish between George Bush, father and son, George H.W. Bush is sometimes referred to by his nickname Poppy, and George W. Bush by his, W.

New Documents Turn Up The Heat On IRS
The Internal Revenue Service targeted political groups based on the content of their literature, flagging any "anti-Obama rhetoric" and "propaganda" that turned up in applications for tax-exempt status, according to internal IRS documents from 2011.
The documents, obtained by USA Today, list 162 groups along with comments by IRS lawyers in Washington raising questions about their political, lobbying, and advocacy activities.
The American Center for Law and Justice, a nonprofit legal institution that represents 23 of the groups on the IRS list, said the new documents are “the most powerful evidence yet of a coordinated effort” by the IRS to target tea party and other conservative groups.
"The political motivations of this are so patently obvious, but then to have a document that spells it out like this is very damaging to the IRS," Jay Sekulow, chief counsel for the center, told the newspaper. "I hope the FBI has seen these documents."

Walgreens Makes Changes In Employee Healthcare Coverage
Walgreens, the nation's largest drugstore chain, said Wednesday that it will send workers to a private health insurance exchange where they will pick from as many as 25 plans instead of having the company give them two to four options.
Walgreens says it will continue to provide employer sponsored coverage and its contribution toward the benefit won't change. It said the move will give its workers more choices and help them become better consumers.
Walgreens has more than 8,100 drugstores nationwide and provides health coverage for about 180,000 employees and dependents.

GOP Rep: Clinton Had Larger Role In Benghazi Than Believed
The Obama administration says it held four employees responsible for mistakes in the run-up to last year's Benghazi attack -- even though they are still working for the State Department. Congressman Ted Yoho (R-Fla.) says then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had a larger role in Benghazi than it’s made to believe.
The House Foreign Affairs Committee held a hearing Wednesday morning seeking answers from the State Department over who made the policy decisions that created a death trap for four Americans September 11, 2012.
Rep. Yoho believes the committee was able to get the answers they demanded from Patrick Kennedy, the State Department's undersecretary for management, but there are still more details that need to be clarified.
“We welcomed the information we got. We got a long way to go, but anytime we get closer to what went wrong in this it’s a great way to proceed … the American people want answers,” said Yoho.

The Nov. 16 speaking engagement was announced Wednesday by the Democratic Party in New Hampshire, traditionally the nation’s first presidential primary state. It will be O’Malley’s first visit to the Granite State in more than a year and his first since speculation about a White House bid by Hillary Clinton has overshadowed talk about most other potential Democratic contenders.

Seniors Push Bill To Repeal Obamacare Provision That Raises Their Costs
Rep. Ron Barber, D-Ariz., introduced a bill to repeal a provision of Obamacare that threatens to increase costs for senior citizens after constituents brought the issue to his attention.
“This piece of legislation is a direct result of the concerns of the people I represent and discussions with the people of Green Valley,” Barbersaid in a statement Tuesday on the Helping Families and Seniors Save on Health Care Act.
“The most important thing I can do is bring the voice of our community to Washington. In this case, that means protecting Southern Arizona seniors from rising health-care costs," Barber said.
Barber wants to repeal a provision of Obamacare that diminishes the amount of medical expenses that senior citizens can deduct on their tax filings.

O'Malley Conducts Himself As A Cockamamie Imbecile
I thought you might want to see a nationally televised confrontation with Texas Governor Rick Perry and Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley. It appears that Texas Governor Rick Perry is sowing seed for Texas's fertile business ground. After all, Halliburton - Dresser did flee Salisbury, Maryland and headed to Austin, Texas whereby they are functioning extremely well.
As you well know - SBYnews has been covering Salisbury/Wicomico job generation for the past few years. SBYnews publishes each month the monthly job tally as reported by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Given SBYnews close coverage of actual job generation, and, actual postings ,and, listings of manufacturers fleeing from Maryland - I have to question Governor O'Malley's sanity especially after watching this national news video.

Governor Rick Perry was correct when he said;
'In Texas we pray for Rain, and in Maryland, Governor O'Malley taxes it.'

Sparring Between Govs. O’Malley And Perry Continues On The Set Of ‘Crossfire’
About 10 minutes into Wednesday night’s broadcast of CNN’s “Crossfire,” Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley (D) made the case that Texas is not the only state with great businesses.
Maryland has some some too, O’Malley said, ticking off Lockheed Martin, Under Armour and Marriott as examples for Rick Perry, governor of the Lone Star State, who sat across from him.
“We’re recruiting them to Texas,” Perry (R) said, without missing a beat.

U.S. To Exit Fisker At Hefty Taxpayer Loss
Washington —The Energy Department said Tuesday it will auction off its outstanding $168 million loan to the now-closed electric vehicle manufacturer Fisker Automotive Inc., a move that will likely mean significant losses to taxpayers. It would be the second automaker to fail after receiving loans that were later sold by the government at a loss.
Peter W. Davidson, executive director of the Energy Department’s loan program office, said in a blog posting Tuesday that the department will exit Fisker, whose Karma luxury sedan was driven by celebrities such as Al Gore, Justin Bieber and Leonardo DiCaprio.
Fisker was initially was awarded $528 million from the $25 billion Advanced Vehicle Technology Manufacturing loan program, but received only $192 million. The Energy Department said it has already recouped more than $28 million from Fisker’s accounts.

'Obama Express' Grocery Store Caught In Food Stamp Trafficking
After Obama's election in 2009 a small grocery store/convenience store in Florida changed its name to the Obama Express. Several other stores across the country did the same thing. One of those was a location in Baltimore, Maryland. Now, in 2013, the Maryland outlet is under investigation, accused of illegally trafficking in food stamps.
On September 17, WBAL reported that nine retailers in Baltimore County had been arrested for illegally redeeming food stamps for cash and kicking back a portion to food stamp recipients. The retailers did not sell them any merchandise or food.
One of those indicted was one Abdullah Aljaradi who allegedly obtained $2 million in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) cash from Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards.

Land Of The Free: American Police Make An Arrest Every 2 Seconds In 2012
The FBI has just released its Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) data for 2012, which complies arrest data for the whole of the USA. While the numbers have not changed much from the year before, the absolute numbers are stunning and I doubt most Americans are aware of how elevated and skewed they actually are.
The most stunning figure is that law enforcement made an estimated 12.2 million arrests in 2012. That’s an arrest almost every two seconds of every single day. That’s straight up horrifying. Of these arrests, only 521,196 were for violent crimes.

GOP Goes All-In On ‘De-Fund ObamaCare,’ As Shutdown Looms
House Speaker John Boehner, in an abrupt turnaround, plans to let Tea Party lawmakers have a vote on de-funding ObamaCare as part of a politically risky strategy which Democrats warn could result in a government shutdown.
GOP leaders unveiled their plan to members on Wednesday morning, teeing up a vote for Friday -- the proposed bill would tie the vote to de-fund the health care law to a vote on a stopgap spending bill. Current funding for the government is set to expire at the end of the month, and lawmakers must approve the stopgap bill in order to keep Washington open; conservatives see this as leverage to force a suspension of ObamaCare.

Canadian Billionaire Predicts The End Of The Dollar As Reserve Currency; Warns "It's Likely To Get Ugly"
Beginning with how Kissinger and Nixon enabled the USD as the world's de facto reserve currency through oil, Canadian Billionaire Ned Goodman explains in the brief but far-reaching clip how it is both inevitable (and rapidly approaching) that the rest of the world will turn its back on the dollar. With China and Russia (among many others that we have detailed in the past) agreeing on non-USD swap terms for energy, the cracks are starting to show and as Goodman details, "in the 1930s, everyone wanted USD (backed by silver)," but today, backed by nothing, "everyone wants to get rid of them." Buying hard assets is crucial (he has never been more bullish of gold) as we head into a period of stagflation or even high inflation; and as Goodman previously commented "the world is totally upside down right now - it's completely crazy," in fact, he adds, "I'm keen on anything that's going to live with higher inflationary numbers, because I can't see the world getting out of the problems that it's in."
Grab your pre-FOMC popcorn and watch for a brief few minutes as sense is spoken on everything from the reality of the USD reserve currency's dwindling support, the stupidity of Obama's Syrian debacle, China and Russia's deals, the inevitable inflation when "the United States losing the privilege of being able to print at its will."

Minimum-Wage Laws Have Consequences
A survey of American economists found that 90 percent of them regarded minimum-wage laws as increasing the rate of unemployment among low-skilled workers. Inexperience is often the problem. Only about 2 percent of Americans over the age of 24 earned the minimum wage.
Advocates of minimum-wage laws usually base their support of such laws on their estimate of how much a worker “needs” in order to have “a living wage” — or on some other criterion that pays little or no attention to the worker’s skill level, experience, or general productivity. So it is hardly surprising that minimum-wage laws set wages that price many young workers out of jobs.

Gun Control’s Dead End
Now that the terrifying confusion has abated and the wildly varying reports have been collated into some sort of consensus, we are able to review what happened yesterday at Washington, D.C.’s Navy Yard with a dispassionate and critical eye. Doing so reveals that it is once again time for the friends of liberty to be blunt and to be forceful in the face of what will inevitably come. So resolved, let us lay down this marker: Those claiming that yesterday’s abomination demonstrates the need for stricter gun control are lying, or else they are ignorant, and, either way, they should be ashamed of themselves. It does no such thing.
We now know that the perpetrator owned only a Remington 870 shotgun, and that he murdered and maimed his way into possession of the two other weapons that he used in his attack. Those weapons were two standard 9mm handguns — not, as the media tripped over itself prematurely to report, a much-maligned AR-15 “assault rifle.” On his show last night, unrelenting bore Piers Morgan spent a great deal of time spreading misinformation about the role of the AR-15 in the shooting, a theme that the New York Daily News rather embarrassingly continued on its front pagethis morning. Although retractions will presumably be forthcoming in the usual tiny print, it is probably too late to remove completely the impression that the headlines will have left in the imaginations of many Americans.

Democrats Act To Stop Vitter Amendment, Keep Obamacare Exemptions For Congress
Democratic leaders increased their efforts on Tuesday to turn aside an amendment sponsored by Republican U.S. Senator David Vitter of Louisiana, that would prevent Congressional members and staffers from receiving exemptions from key Obamacare measures.
When Congress passed the sweeping Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act in 2010, Congressional members and their staff were exempted from several provisions of the law.
The Vitter amendment would change that and require the president and vice president to participate in mandated healthcare exchanges and would eliminate federal employer contributions for health benefits for the president, vice president, members of Congress, and political appointees.
The amendment also would block tax credits for assistance in buying insurance on the exchanges for these individuals.

More Evidence Of Rampant Fraud In Lifeline Free Phone Program
Investigators working for Scripps Media have interviewed a former employee for a provider of free phone service, sometimes known as Obamaphones, who admits to forging signatures on applications.
A two-part video report by Scripps was further confirmed by National Review Online in a story published Monday. In the following story, former TerraCom, Inc. employee Reggie Strode describes how he, and other TerraCom employees, would routinely sign forms on behalf of new customers. Strode earned $3 for each new sign-up while TerraCom earned $9 a month per individual:

Illinois’s Medicaid Scandal
Bollywood performers, a Boston boat cruise with an open bar, gifts of cigars and wine — the vendor working on Illinois’s expensive new Medicaid information-technology system entertains public officials in style, according to sources in the Illinois government.
These whistleblowers tell National Review that when Client Network Services, Inc., was seeking the Medicaid contract, it wined and dined state officials, who then circumvented Illinois’s standard procurement procedures in order to outsource the multimillion-dollar contract to CNSI, which is currently under criminal investigationin Louisiana. CNSI, headquartered in Maryland, has a history of work of questionable quality, overrun project budgets, delays, and litigation in several other states.

Friend Describes Alexis As Obama Supporter, 'More Of A Liberal'
Tuesday, on CNN's "The Lead with Jake Tapper," Michael Ritrovato spoke at length about his friend, suspected Navy Yard shooter Aaron Alexis. After expressing his condolences to the victims and their families, Ritrovato then expressed his shock over the actions of a man he described as being "like a brother to me" and a "good-natured guy."
Ritrovato went on to explain that two of them had a close relationship based in part on their differences, specifically race and politics. Alexis was black, Ritrovato is white. Ritrovato described himself as conservative and Alexis is "more of a liberal type" who supported Barack Obama:
I would say things like, 'You know, you are my brother from another mother.' And he would say things like, 'You're my Italian mafia guy from New York.' So we had things we joked about: Aaron wasn't conservative like I am. He was more of a liberal type; he wasn't happy with the former [Bush] administration. He was more happy with this [the Obama] administration -- as far as presidential administrations.

Why Obama Allowed Bailouts Without Indictments
The following article by Janet Tavakoli is an excellent reminder of the extraordinarily destructive coup pulled off by financial oligarchs in fall of 2008, when the rule of law was suspended and total theft institutionalized. I have written many times about my experience on Wall Street when the bailouts happened. How I ranted and raved on the trading desk about how TARP marked the end of any semblance of free markets and that there was no turning back. How I was told to “take a walk around the block” to cool off.
All of the suffering and hardships the majority of Americans are experiencing today are directly related to the coup pulled off by the crony financial oligarchs in the fall of 2008, and all of the media and political minions that helped them do it. People realize we have become a Banana Republic and they have now lost all hope. That said, there should always be hope and we can certainly restore society to better days, but not until we have remove our domestic cancers from their positions in the highest offices of government, finance and corporate America. That is what we must peacefully achieve. Now here’s Janet Tavakoli:
In November 2008, President Obama was elected, and he was sworn in January 2009. The country was promised change and reform. Recently two democrats close to the top of President Obama’s administration made excuses to me for the lack of financial reform in the United States. Their separately related versions were remarkably similar, so similar they seemed scripted:
The administration made a bargain, and I’m not sure it was the right decision. The world was teetering on the edge of collapse. There was a crisis of confidence. There would have been unimaginable consequences. So bad even your imagination can’t handle the truth?
It was the lesser of two evils to let a lot of people get away scot free than to risk a collapse in confidence. There were only two choices according to this narrative.
It was better to let a lot of people get away scot free than to have the first African American president take on the establishment while the country was deeply divided and he needed agreement on big things like ending wars, health care, Supreme Court nominees (and LGBT rights). There were lots of battles without taking on the financial establishment. It seems to me that reforming our financial system is a big thing. As for at least two of the narrative’s big issues: health care costs are zooming up, and it looks as if we’re rattling our swords for another military conflict.
The president was elected in part on his promise to effect change on the really tough issues, and there was no better time than when the crisis was fresh, and he had a groundswell of popular support.

46 Of 99 U.S. Senators Vote To Give Your Constitutional Rights To UN
This is in regards to Senate Bill 139 of the 113th Congress, which was presented to prevent the Second Amendment rights of the USA from being given to the UN.
I went through the data and found that 99 Senators voted, with 46 of them voting “Nay” (which means they were willing to give our rights per our Constitution in regard to the Second Amendment to the United Nations.) This vote was recorded on March 23, 2013 which was just a few months after the Election in Nov. 2012.
With this data, I then found that the following 16 Senators will be up for re-election in Nov. of 2014 and will finish their term on Jan. 3, 2015. I am doing this to inform you of the danger of this group (Class II) being re-elected at that time. Their behavior, which is in conflict with their oath of office, shows their willingness to give our rights to another governing body. Please refuse to vote for them in Nov. of 2014. The 16 are in alphabetical order as follows:

And we’re here to help.”
In a nationwide effort to educate parents and caregivers during Child Passenger Safety Week, Safe Kids and the General Motors Foundation are teaming up for Seat Check Saturday activities as part the Buckle Up program, a national initiative established 16 years ago by Safe Kids and the GM Foundation to keep children and families safe in and around cars.

I'll Never Stand In Line Again
Some men carry and handle their diplomacy better than others........
When former U.S. Military commander in Afghanistan, Stanley McChrystal, was called into the Oval Office by Barack Obama, he knew things weren't going to go well when the President accused him of not supporting him in his political role as President.
"It's not my job to support you as a politician, Mr. President, it's my job to support you as Commander-in-Chief," McChrystal replied, and he handed Obama his resignation.
Not satisfied with accepting McChrystal's resignation the President made a cheap parting shot. "I bet when I die you'll be happy to pee on my grave."
The General saluted. "Mr. President, I always told myself after leaving the Army I'd never stand in line again."
