BREAKING: AT&T Sells Newtown Phone Calls To NewsCorp, Say Anonymous

NEWTOWN CT–Anonymous activists, combing through AT&T’s e-mail servers, released evidence Sunday showing that recorded phone calls of grieving Sandyhook victims and families were sold to Rupert Murdoch’s NewsCorp for seven million US dollars.

The recordings were released by Anonymous as proof that AT&T is selling its customers’ private data. Commander X, leader of the shadowy leaderless collective, said “I am outraged, but not surprised. Nothing they do surprises me anymore, and it only serves to justify my decision to run from the broken governments of the world. Nowhere is safe.”

Prices of TVs and PCs Plummet as Prices of Newspapers and Textbooks Climb

In what may be as much an ongoing sign of America’s changing culture as its changing economy, the prices of televisions and personal computers dropped significantly over the past year, while the prices of newspapers, magazines and textbooks went up.

According to new data released Wednesday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average price of a television went down 17.5 percent from December 2011 to December 2012. At the same time, the average price of personal computers and their peripheral equipment went down 8.7 percent.

Purchasers of non-electronic instruments for delivering news and information faced a different marketplace, however. The average prices of newspapers and magazines climbed 6.2 percent from December 2011 to December 2012, said BLS. At the same time, the average price of a college textbook rose 7.9 percent.

The Twelve Steps

  1. We came to understand that our government is powerless over its spending - that our nation's debt had become unmanageable.
  2. We came to believe that a power greater than our fiat currency could restore us to sanity.
  3. We made a decision to turn our savings and our investments over to the care of gold, as we understand gold to be a physical asset - not a paper promise.
  4. We made a searching and fearless inventory of our wealth.
  5. We converted to gold, to Krugerrands, and to Maple Leafs, the fiat paper assets of our wealth, thus eliminating our counterparties.
  6. We were entirely ready to have gold remove all risk of default.
  7. We humbly asked the coin dealer to reduce our exposure to The Inflation Tax.
  8. We made a list of those politicians that expose us to The Inflation Tax, and became willing to work against them all.
  9. We gave direct support to Libertarians whenever possible, except when no Libertarian is on the ballot, and then we voted against the incumbent.
  10. We continued to create wealth through our own industry, and then we converted it to gold, and promptly buried it.
  11. We sought through silver coins to increase our contact with precious metal, as we understand silver to be a physical asset - not a paper promise, paying for as many day-to-day transactions with silver as possible, using our credit card (not debit) for what was not, and paying off the entire balance each month.
  12. We, having had a fiscal awakening as the result of these steps, tried to carry this message to others, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

POLL: ABSENTEE PARENTS, HOLLYWOOD TO BLAME FOR GUN CRIME

For the first time in a long time--perhaps ever--Americans are pointing the finger of blame at absentee parents and Hollywood productions instead of law-abiding gun owners.

As a new poll conducted by NBC/Wall Street Journal reveals, 83 percent of Americans say that parents who "don't pay enough attention to what's going on in their kids lives" share "a great deal" of responsibility for shootings like those at the Aurora theater, Sandy Hook Elementary, and Tuscon, AZ.

Moreover, the same poll shows that 62 percent of Americans believe that movies and television programs that portray violence in an appealing way share a large portion of the blame as well.

Resume:
Frankford, DE- Delaware State Police Detectives have arrested a couple in connection with numerous burglaries and thefts that occurred in Sussex County.

Earlier this month, Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Unit at Troop 4 began investigating a series of burglaries that were occurring in the Frankford, Dagsboro, Millsboro, Georgetown, and Laurel areas. These incidents, which began in late November, would occur during the daylight hours and in most cases, windows were shattered by objects found around the victim’s homes. In the majority of the burglaries, property taken consisted primarily of jewelry, cash, and electronic devices. In one particular burglary in December, a victim from Millsboro had a gas card stolen. Detectives were then able to link the transactions to a gas station located in Millsboro and learned through the investigation that Joseph D. Snead andNakeisha A. Thomas were the ones in possession of the card.

On January 9th, warrants were obtained on the suspects in connection with multiple counts of Identity Theft and Unlawful Use of a Credit Card. Snead was picked up at Probation and Parole that afternoon and charged with six counts of Identity Theft, six counts of Theft, and six counts of Unlawful Use of a Credit Card. He was committed to SCI in lieu of $10,000.00 secured bail. Nakeisha Thomas was arrested on January 14th for 12 counts of Identity Theft, 12 counts of Theft, and 12 counts of Unlawful Use of a Credit Card. She was remanded to WCI in default of $39,000.00 secured bail.

Through the course of the investigation and interviews, the two had also been linked to the burglaries that were committed in southern Sussex County. Additional charges were brought against the two on January 17th including multiple counts of Burglary 2nd, Theft of a Firearm, Felony Theft, Conspiracy, and Criminal Mischief. An additional bond of $143,700.00 secured bond was place on Snead. Bond on Thomas was not readily available on the additional charges. Both are still incarcerated.

Professor Misstates Glass Steagall History?

Why No Glass-Steagall II? ... Eighty years ago this month, Ferdinand Pecora, the cigar-chomping former assistant district attorney for New York City, was appointed chief counsel for the US Senate Committee on Banking and Currency. In subsequent months, the hearings of the Pecora Commission featured many sensational revelations about the practices that led to the 1930's financial crisis. – Project Syndicate

Dominant Social Theme: It is simply common sense. If banks can't gamble their own money in the big casino of the global stock market, they won't go broke.

Free-Market Analysis: Barry Eichengreen is a professor of economics and political science at the University of California, Berkeley, and a former senior policy adviser at the International Monetary Fund. So why does he, in our view, misrepresent the history of the financial industry in this article posted over at Project Syndicate?

He writes about the US Glass-Steagall Act, which separated commercial and investment banking and suggests that it should be reinstituted. He is a fan of Ferdinand Pecora, whom Franklin Delano Roosevelt picked to head up the 1930s hearings that led to various regulatory impositions including the Securities and Exchange Commission. True, he doesn't mention that there is in force a Volcker Rule currently ... but maybe that's because the Volcker Rule is such a weak version of Glass-Steagall that it's not worth commenting on.

Officials Lower Turnout Projection For Inauguration

District of Columbia officials have lowered their turnout estimate for Monday's presidential inauguration.

The district's homeland security director, Chris Geldart, said Sunday that officials now expect between 500,000 and 700,000 people to attend. That's fewer than the 600,000 to 800,000 people initially anticipated.

The estimates are based in part on the number of charter buses arriving in the city, as well as the number of hotel and restaurant reservations.

West Point Issues Report On The "Far Right" Terrorists In America

If this article does not serve as a wakeup call for all those on the fence regarding who your loving government now considers a “terrorist” I don’t know what will. The power structure loves to use language to divide and conquer their subjects, and this report is a perfect example of that technique. These days, when the term “far right” is used in the mainstream media or in government/military reports, they are talking about those that believe in the Constitution as the supreme law of the land. A preeminent set of laws that must be followed by everyone, including the President, Congress, large corporations and the military. Meanwhile, the “moderate right” is defined as Neo-cons. You know, the torture loving, Constitution-ignoring, militaristic chicken-hawks that still hold on to the reins of power within the Republican establishment. This is supposedly the “moderate right,” while the “far right” just wants to uphold the Constitution and Bill of Rights. Of course, the power structure doesn’t want to have to deal with the Constitution any longer, so of course those that defend it are “far right” or “terrorists” in the mind of the state.

The report I am referring to was just released by the Combating Terrorism Center at the U.S. Military Academy and it is titled: “Challengers from the Sidelines: Understanding America’s Violent Far-Right.” From the Washington Times:

A West Point think tank has issued a paper warning America about “far right” groups such as the “anti-federalist” movement, which supports “civil activism, individual freedoms and self-government.”
Those seem like the types of things only an America terrorist would support, right? (see my piece You Know You Are a Conspiracy Theorist If…)
The report issued this week by the Combating Terrorism Center at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., is titled “Challengers from the Sidelines: Understanding America’s Violent Far-Right.”

The center — part of the institution where men and women are molded into Army officers — posted the report Tuesday.

AMERICANS RALLY NATIONWIDE AGAINST STRICTER GUN CONTROL MEASURES

Concerned citizens gathered in state capitals nationwide Saturday to rally against stricter gun control measures, days after President Barack Obama unveiled a sweeping package of federal gun control proposals.

Roughly 800 people turned out in Austin, Texas, many carrying signs with messages like “An Armed Society is a Polite Society” and “The Second Amendment Comes from God.” Police in Connecticut said about 1,000 people showed up on the capitol grounds in Hartford, about 50 miles from the site of last month’s mass shooting at Newtown’s Sandy Hook Elementary School. Roughly 2,000 turned out in New York.

The event’s primary Facebook page lists more than 20,000 people as planning to attend.

WANT TO SCARE A BABY BOOMER?

If you want to frighten Baby Boomers, just show them the list of statistics in this article. The United States is headed for a retirement crisis of unprecedented magnitude, and we are woefully unprepared for it. At this point, more than 10,000 Baby Boomers are reaching the age of 65 every single day, and this will continue to happen for almost the next 20 years. The number of senior citizens in America is projected to more than double during the first half of this century, and some absolutely enormous financial promises have been made to them.

So will we be able to keep those promises to the hordes of American workers that are rapidly approaching retirement? Of course not. State and local governments are facing trillions in unfunded pension liabilities. Medicare is facing a 38 trillion dollar shortfall over the next 75 years. The Social Security system is facing a $134 trillion dollar shortfall over the next 75 years. Meanwhile, nearly half of all American workers have less than $10,000 saved for retirement. The truth is that I was being incredibly kind when I said earlier that we are “woefully unprepared” for what is coming. The biggest retirement crisis in history is rapidly approaching, and a lot of the promises that were made to the Baby Boomers are going to get broken.

The following are 35 incredibly shocking statistics that will scare just about any Baby Boomer…

1. Right now, there are somewhere around 40 million senior citizens in the United States. By 2050 that number is projected to skyrocket to 89 million.

2. According to one recent poll, 25 percent of all Americans in the 46 to 64-year-old age bracket have no retirement savings at all.

There Was No GOP Entitlement-Cutting Plan

In the fights over the fiscal cliff and now the debt ceiling, many conservatives were adamant: Republicans should reach an agreement with President Obama only in exchange for serious cuts in entitlement spending. It is the entitlements — Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security — that will drive future deficits, the conservatives argued, and without real cuts, the nation’s debt will spiral out of control in the not-too-distant future.

Some Republican lawmakers have been stressing that point for weeks and demanding that the president agree to “real cuts” before any deal could be struck. But what has emerged from the House GOP retreat in Williamsburg, Virginia is that Republicans did not have an entitlement-cutting proposal to present to Obama in debt-ceiling talks, had the president ever agreed to negotiate with them. The talk about big entitlement cuts, at least in connection with a debt-ceiling agreement, was mostly talk.

Now, by deciding to pass a short-term debt-limit bill, and at the same time demand that Democrats pass a budget — something Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has not allowed in nearly four years — Republicans have sidestepped the entitlement issue altogether, at least for a while. That might have been the GOP’s only option, since it had not agreed on an entitlement-cutting proposal.

Actor Danny Glover: Second Amendment Was Created To Protect America From Slave Revolts

Liberal actor Danny Glover of the series Lethal Weapon probably wasn’t very popular in the room after delivering this line to a group of students at Texas A&M.

“I don’t know if you know the genesis of the right to bear arms,” Glover said. “The Second Amendment comes from the right to protect themselves from slave revolts, and from uprisings by Native Americans, so a revolt from people who were stolen from their land or revolt from people whose land was stolen from, that’s what the genesis of the Second Amendment is.”

If You Are Unemployed In These States, Move!

According to Bloomberg's rankings (based on wealth disparity, average unemployment benefits, and overall unemployment pool), and somewhat confirming the food-divide discussion we had last night [4], the following states are the worst to live in if you are unemployed. Connecticut tops the list with its massive wealth disparity - more than one $200,000 household for every household earning less than $10,000. New York, California, and D.C. are close behind with Oregon and Alabama in 19th and 20th 'worst' place to be unemployed. Welcome to the bifurcated un-recovery.

TWO EUROPEAN TV HOSTS TRY TO EXPERIENCE THE PAIN OF CHILDBIRTH — HOW LONG DO YOU THINK THEY LASTED?

Dutch television hosts Dennis Storm and Valerio Zena entered territory no man can quite comprehend during their recent broadcast of the show Guinea Pigs — childbirth.

They tried, though, hooking themselves up to machines that reportedly simulate the pain of contractions.

“Do you think the pain will make us scream?” Zeno asks before the shocks begin.

One of the nurses responds bluntly: “Yes, it definitely will.”

She wasn’t lying.

In 2009, inaugural planners banned corporate and union donations and still managed to raise $53 million — all from individual donors.

Roe v. Wade: After 40 Years, Deep Divide Is Legacy

By today's politically polarized standards, the Supreme Court's momentous Roe v. Wade ruling was a landslide. By a 7-2 vote on Jan. 22, 1973, the justices established a nationwide right to abortion.

Forty years and roughly 55 million abortions later, however, the ruling's legacy is the opposite of consensus. Abortion ranks as one of the most intractably divisive issues in America and is likely to remain so as rival camps of true believers see little space for common ground.

Unfolding events in two states illustrate the depth of the divide. In New York, already a bastion of liberal abortion laws, Gov. Andrew Cuomo pledged in his Jan. 9 State of the State speech to entrench those rights even more firmly. In Mississippi, where many anti-abortion laws have been enacted in recent years, the lone remaining abortion clinic is on the verge of closure because nearby hospitals won't grant obligatory admitting privileges to its doctors.

On Immigration And Social Security

There are two very big issues on America's plate in 2013; A) what to do with Social Security (SS) , and B) immigration. For the most part, these two topics are uniquely different. There is one important area where they lap over - money.

SS maintains an account called the Earnings Suspense File (ESF). This is account used for booking money that comes into SS from improper SS ID# (SSNs). Credits to ESF can arise from administrative errors. It's easy to imagine how some one transposes a few digits on the SSN, and the computers at SS recognizes the mistake. Until the error is fixed, the money from payroll taxes on that SSN is suspended in the ESF.

The ESF is not just an account where errors are trapped and later reconciled. It is a doghouse account that has collected well over a hundred billion dollars over the past decade. The vast majority of the money in the ESF comes from workers who are using an illegal SSN.

This site produced the following report on the Earnings Suspense File (ESF) at SS:

‘Guns Across America’ Brings Out Hundreds To Protest Gun-Control In Maryland

In the Maryland State House this week, Gov. Martin O’Malley (D) made gun-control the hot topic. But outside the Annapolis capitol on Saturday afternoon, hundreds of mostly Republican protesters gathered to push back, voicing their support for gun rights.

Members of the crowd of more than 200 people carried signs accusing O’Malley and President Obama of tyranny for trying to impose tough new restrictions on gun purchases. Some carried life-sized cardboard cutouts of weapons and wrapped themselves in the tea party’s yellow “Don’t Tread on Me” flag.

The rally was Maryland’s answer to Saturday’s “Guns Across America,” a day that gun-rights advocates had encouraged pro-gun rallies to be held in all 50 states.

UN Gun Grab On Pace For March

In just two months the globalists of the UN will gather in New York City to put the final touches on plans to impose strict regulations worldwide on the right of the individual to buy, sell, trade, or own guns and ammunition.

On March 18, 2013 in New York City the next round of negotiations is scheduled to begin, with one aim in mind: eradicate private gun ownership.

On Christmas Eve, 2012, the United Nations General Assembly approved a resolution to renew negotiations on the global Arms Trade Treaty (ATT).

The measure was approved by a vote of 133-0, with 17 countries abstaining.

As reported by Reuters, the foreign ministers of Argentina, Australia, Costa Rica, Finland, Japan, Kenya, and the United Kingdom – the countries that drafted the resolution – released a joint statement praising the passage of the resolution to move ahead on the global gun ban.

"This was a clear sign that the vast majority of U.N. member states support a strong, balanced and effective treaty, which would set the highest possible common global standards for the international transfer of conventional arms," the foreign ministers said in their statement.
As The New American has reported, when the treaty was being deliberated in July, the United States was the only obstacle preventing the global arms control regulations from being imposed on the world.

Miraculously, however, all the points of the agreement Secretary of State Hillary Clinton found so distasteful in the summer were made so much more palatable after President Obama’s reelection, and every single attack on the right to bear arms remains in the version of the treaty approved on November 7.
Within hours of his securing his reelection, President Obama placed a late night call to the U.S. United Nations delegation ordering them to vote in favor of a passage of L.11.

A story in The Hill reports, however, that “The U.S. mission to the U.N. denied that the timing of the election had anything to do with the treaty’s talks being delayed.”

Kindergartner Suspended for Threatening to Shoot Classmate With ‘Hello Kitty’ Bubble Gun

The family of a kindergarten student in Northumberland County is thinking about filing a lawsuit after their five-year-old was suspended from school. The family’s attorney says she was suspended because she threatened to shoot herself and a classmate with a Hello Kitty bubble gun.

A pink Hello Kitty bubble gun is the reason a five-year-old girl was suspended from kindergarten at Mount Carmel Area Elementary School. Her family’s attorney says she was at her school bus stop last week when she told a classmate she was going to shoot her and herself with the bubble gun…a gun she did not have with her. People in the community can’t believe it.

“It’s just bubbles. It can’t harm anybody. It’s not hard and won’t puncture anything or harm anybody in any way,” Kayla Nash of Shamokin said.

QUOTES OF THE DAY 1-20-12

“Freedom is not empowerment. Empowerment is what the Serbs have in Bosnia. Anybody can grab a gun and be empowered. It’s not entitlement. An entitlement is what people on welfare get, and how free are they? It’s not an endlessly expanding list of rights — the “right” to education, the “right” to food and housing. That’s not freedom, that’s dependency. Those aren’t rights, those are the rations of slavery — hay and a barn for human cattle. There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences.”
P.J. O’Rourke

“The second item in the liberal creed, after self-righteousness, is unaccountability. Liberals have invented whole college majors–psychology, sociology, women’s studies–to prove that nothing is anybody’s fault. No one is fond of taking responsibility for his actions, but consider how much you’d have to hate free will to come up with a political platform that advocates killing unborn babies but not convicted murderers. A callous pragmatist might favor abortion and capital punishment. A devout Christian would sanction neither. But it takes years of therapy to arrive at the liberal view.”
P.J. O’Rourke

“Giving money and power to government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys.”
