  4. Paula sears the manager on site and Malcolm smith the so called manintance man see nothing and admit to nothing in order to keep there jobs.

  5. This is a photo of a crawl space floor. If the insulation shown between the floor joists has a vapor barrier and it's facing down towards the ground, there lies your problem. With insulation the vapor barrier must be installed toward the conditioned space as warm air migrates toward colder surfaces and carries the moisture with it.

  6. I did some construction work over there and YES, the place is a mess. Water under the buildings from runoff and sewer leaks, termite damage in nearly every building and black mold in every unit I went into. To top it off, I never got PAID. They declared bankruptcy and left me in the hole for a few thousand dollars. Then they hired out of towners that probably weren't licensed. Their notorious for that.
That black mold can really make you sick too.
Thats why you can't sell a house if it has it. I saw it in attics, air vents, utility rooms and under the buildings that I worked on.

  9. Just saw it one the TV and once again Sbynews has the scoop.
A friend of mine had an aspergillus mold infection in his lungs from breathing this black mold. It is NASTY stuff and can really make you sick especially if it's in the air vents.
Everytime the heat or A/C comes on you get a dose of mold spores all over the room! And people are paying rent to breath that??
Also, it looks like a soaking wet crawl space in that picture. Not good. No wonder the place is full of mold and termites.
    Where are the county inspectors?

  10. Bottom pic is a different unit not related to the mold issue posted by the city in top pics.
That was a unit in another building that had been ravaged by termites, water leaks AND mold issues, major structural damage. I quoted Merrifield to fix it a year ago. It was never condemned by the city. It was recently repaired by unlicensed carpenters from Jamaica living in Baltimore. I stopped and talked to them a month ago.

  11. How can the owners and managers of this facility allow this condition to exist? The health of the tenants should be the highest priority. There is absolutely no excuse for any tenant to be exposed to mold and have their health put at risk! Based on some of the previous comments it appears that the management was aware of the problem but chose not to take appropriate action. If true that is shameful and immoral!

  12. First and formost the management and maintenance should and will be held responsible for there actions. How in the world can one live with them selfs

  13. Thank you Joe Albero for posting this info on this very huge problem.(Just so you know I voted for you and would do it again and again)

  14. I lived there - where are the city inspectors - this place should be closed - black mold, water under buildings, roaches, nasty place

  15. managed by a company from NJ all they want is the $$. Don't treat the residents right and from what I hear treat the employees terrible too

  16. Any attorney's looking for a slam dunk case??

  17. All merrifield residents should check there units really well and report anything and everything no matter how big or small

  18. What lawyer would handle this type of thing?

    ReplyDelete
  19. I no a women who has lived at certified to 12 years. The mold had gotten so bad in her unit she moved. And to no surprise within a week someone new moved in. Hmmm what's wrong with this picture?

    ReplyDelete
  20. no lawyer would. people would have to show a pattern of health problems resulting from the mold. if they had a problem, why did they stay there. if they smoke, first thing asked, your inhaling tar every day and complaining about health issues?
would be very tough to win any case.

  21. I live there. Whenever there is a problem the mgr. and maintenance man aggressively work to resolve any issue. In any complex or home that is over 40 years old you will always have maintenance problems.

    ReplyDelete
  22. People that live here no for a fact that maintenance is not qualified and only masks the problem. Only for the problem to return and get worse. Maybe the corporate office should check these things out.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Mold, mildew, termites, roches, severe water leaks and damage are not typical maintenance issues these are assurances that have been masked over for a period of time. That have resulted in major damage. This is why the current maintenance personal are not qualified and these problems keep growing out of control.

  25. The reason you want move from here is they won't let you out of your lease free and clear they like to charge a 300. Dollar fee. That goes to show there all about the o mitey dollar and no concerns for tenent well fare.

  26. if it's that bad, prove it to them, and force them to release you from your lease. i see no proof on here but the one. otherwise alot of
baseless complaining. if it's that bad, and hurting your health, and you can prove it, then i'd get the heck out. and worry about
the lease in court. but if you smoke cigarettes and inhale tar and nicotine all day, so whats a little mold, your killing yourself smoking. if you have no health problems or history of problems you can prove are mold related, you have no case in court. only to get out of the lease, maybe.
your accomplishing nothing by just complaining.

  27. Photos don't do justice to this because 9 out of 10 people have no idea what they are looking at,myself included. Are we to assume that the mold in question looks like the mold on food,or is it totally different looking?

  28. This is interesting I've had a couple of dealings with this current Elon manager and this comment sounds just like something she would say. Not the britest bulb in the bunch

  29. Salisbury is one big toxic area

  30. 11:49- smoking is not the issue, merely a convenient excuse to deflect from the truth.
These conditions do exist. You probably have seen them yourself and are actively engaging in the attempt to silence the truth.
Mold is caused by excess moisture conditions and if you can see mold, it is already way too late as it is microscopic. To see it, it has accumulated in a colony which means millions and millions of the little tiny spores are all living cozily together. It just so happens, billions have taken residence at Merrifield. Stop making excuses and fix it!

  31. They're lining up for a settlement. The courtroom will look like Grand Central Station, providing a law firm takes this on.Or they may file individually, which is perfectly OK.
