Nelson Mandela, the revered South African anti-apartheid icon who spent 27 years in prison, led his country to democracy and became its first black president, died Thursday at home. He was 95.
"He is now resting," said South African President Jacob Zuma. "He is now at peace."
"Our nation has lost his greatest son," he continued. "Our people have lost their father."
A state funeral will be held, and Zuma called for mourners to conduct themselves with "the dignity and respect" that Mandela personified.

OK! When do we get another Holiday?
ReplyDeleteI guess we will get another holiday out of this?
ReplyDeleteSo sad, such a great human being. Rest in Peace.
ReplyDeleteRest in peace, Nelson! Nobody else wanted to be 95 either, including my Dad! He just left last Christmas. You were a shining light in my world just like Dad! And may future generations keep your visions intact!
ReplyDeleteYou were loved by most all! I loved you.
The real Mandela was much more interesting than the silly image we're spoon-fed by the press and the fawning politicians. He was a Communist and a murderer in his youth. He was never a 'political prisoner' - whatever the hell that even means. He was directly involved in at least 2 bombings that left a lot of innocent people dead and maimed for life. Those murders were the reason for his time in prison.

ReplyDeleteYou are correct. And his wife Winnie was just as bad.
If Islam likes this guy, should that not be a warning?
thank you 9:31--Mandela was no hero, but few people can be bothered researching the facts about him . He was a communist racist anti-white terrorist responsible for many murders and also responsible for drastically halting the economic growth of South Africa. South africa is an economic disaster as a result of the systematic killing and confiscation of farms belonging to White Afrikaners. Mandela was a monster--but the Truth does not matter any more.
ReplyDeleteSuch a shame. His portrayal of Joe Clark gave me goosebumps. RIP
