ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- The head of the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services is leaving the job.
Gov. Martin O'Malley announced Tuesday that Gary Maynard is departing after working at the helm of the department since 2007.
O'Malley also announced that Gregg Hershberger will take over the department. Hershberger is the deputy secretary for operations for the department with more than 31 years of experience.
