Woman To Hand Out Letter, Not Candy, To Obese Trick-Or-Treaters

A woman in North Dakota is making headlines after announcing she will not give candy on Halloween night to overweight kids who ring her bell.

Instead, she'll hand out a letter.

"You(r) child is, in my opinion, moderately obese and should not be consuming sugar and treats to the extent of some children this Halloween season," reads a line in the letter, which was posted on the the "Today" show's website.

In the letter, the woman justifies her actions with the common phrase, "It takes a village to raise a child."

  1. It's her prerogative. I think if I were concerned about this I would still give the child a treat and give the letter to the parent. Personally though I don't believe it is my place to police other people's children except in rare instance like if I see them doing something dangerous.

  4. Why can't she just get with the program and have 6 heaping bowls of zero calorie gum and other treats? She'll only need one bowl of regular candy!

  5. I think she rocks, however, she will certainly earn the "tricks" headed her way.

  7. It "takes a village" to raise an idiot. It takes a family to raise a child. Look how many village idiots there are about and it proves my point.

  8. You are correct 3:27. This "it takes a village" baloney is nothing more than giving parents an excuse to evade their responsibilities.

  9. "It takes a village to raise a child".... the village idiot in question should mind her own business. If she is that concerned she should give sugar free candy, or pencils & erasers, or nothing at all.

  10. Wouldn't it be cool if the parents of this town got together and had their kids hand HER a letter saying, "We just egged your house". or "We just soaped your windows" or "There's a paper bag on fire on your porch - you better stamp it out".
    Gotta be creative nowadays....

    1. You know that it wasn't Moocie and what's his name, because she would have given da lil' chillen, tofu and bean sprouts, wrapped in recycled paper taco shells. Like everything Obama, just choke it down.

  15. What a jerk. If you think kids are overweight don't give out candy at all. She could pass out pencils or something else.
