Salisbury Mayor James Ireton, Jr., invites the public to a blessing of a new crosswalk at Wicomico Street and Riverside Drive. Father Aigner, of St. Francis De Sales, will provide the blessing at 2:00 pm Tuesday, November 5, 2013. The new crosswalk will allow safe passage for parishioners of St. Francis to cross Riverside Drive in order to attend church services.
The picture is comical (some may say deceptive). That is not Riverside Dr. And the new 'walkway' is just a crosswalk. Helpful to the entire community who use the medical offices as well as the church. Nice the church appreciates it.
Ireton shouldn't have even been there, but this was another photo op for is Ireton for Maryland campaign. He wants to be the next Norman Conway. Fat like Conway, Ugh. But fat men need loving to, ask anyone in Rehoboth Beach.
They will stop when there is someone in the crosswalk and there is a cop sitting nearby writing tickets for failure to stop for a pedestrian in a crosswalk. Have you ever been to a real airport? They have crosswalks and everyone stops when a person steps on the cross walk because there a cops everywhere and they do write tickets for failure to stop. Heaven forbid you have to spare a minute so that the people leaving church or going to the doctor's offices don't have to play frogger on Riverside Drive.

ReplyDeleteWhen doesn't a pedestrian have the right of way? duh!

ReplyDeleteThey only have the right of way in a crosswalk. They just can't step off the curb and expect a car to stop for them.
this is for real? lol
ReplyDeleteOMG, is it going to be called the Ireton Walkway?

ReplyDeleteI reject the "joker's" implications, and think this post is in bad taste, and an insult to our Catholic population.
ReplyDeleteBut, then again, I have a moral compass.
Tell me again how they will make anything safer? A car won't magically stop just because there is a crosswalk.
