How can anyone think this is an effective consequence for fighting? Teens all over the Eastern Shore are committing suicide because they are gay, think they are gay and have been made to believe that this is a shameful 'choice' they somehow made. The school district should be held accountable for choosing to use shame and sexuality as a consequence for what is realistically a choice to fight each other. Everyone involved and those who did not speak out in that district should be the ones who feel shamed!
Just great. Now we'll have 2 more gay people to worry with.

ReplyDeleteSuspension = vacation. These 2 are learning a lesson by having their macho slammed in public. Good idea.

If it influences them to change - great!
It might also keep other kids from fighting, in which case there is a positive multiplier effect - even better!
Think it was a creative approach.
11:17 really? I know a lot of gay people/couples who contribute more to this area that you could ever. Get over yourself please.
ReplyDeleteThey should also be made to show their faces and not allowed to cover them. A valuable lesson in respect and responsibility for ones' actions.
