THAT would be the time a citizen should have given the thug an ass-whipping. ANYONE can punch and kick a person who is down and out. REAL tough guy... and totally wrong....the bad news for the thug is the next time he fights a cop, it will be their normal scenario --- 5 against one and maybe a dog , too.

ReplyDeleteSince at least Generation X, we've been teaching people not to stand up for themselves, or the weak and needy around them. Throwing the 2nd punch is a bigger offense than starting the physical violence in the first place.
ReplyDeleteAnd we've all also seen police corruption and abuse of power. Doing 90 in a 45 while chatting on the cell phone is fine, because they have taken special speed talking classes. Their brother or wife gets away with something because they are part of "the family." The dog started barking during a no-knock warrant served at the wrong house, so it had to be shot. College kids are sitting in a building, in protest, so they must be maced. When the police start acting like privileged, armed gangs, the people stop offering their respect.
I'm not surprised that this happened at all. Nor am I surprised with the comments from the cop haters out there. This has been programmed into our culture for at least 30 years.
If you don't like it, teach your kids a different value system. And teach the same to your friends and family who are cops. That's the only way things will get better.
