Currently, all 11 members of the school board are appointed by the governor

Who wants to work a full time job at very little pay. Do you know how much a board member is compensated for their services??

Running for a seat as a school board member would cost a lot more money than they are compensated for. It's not worth it until they increase the compensation for board members.
