A mechanical bull is expected to attract clientele to a country western nightspot that is proposed to replace the Party Block on 17th Street.
The Board of License Commissioners granted tentative approval Wednesday for the transfer of the beer, wine and liquor license from Rodento Enterprises to Cowboy Coast Hospitality Group.
Longtime Party Block owner Robert Rosenblit plans to lease the premises to Mark Bogosh of Pasadena.

This would have worked a decade or two ago, but today? Look at who goes to OC, it's increasingly minority based.
ReplyDelete2:35, true and that's why it's going down hill. To survive, that country bar will have to have rap music.
ReplyDeleteActually, I think this will work. It'll be the only venue of that music genre in town. It's probably the only type of entertainment that Seacrets doesn't cover in some way. I wish the best for the new owner. He'll have my support...
ReplyDeleteAnd by the way, "2:35", you have no idea how far the bars and clubs in OC go to keep the type of music (for the group you refer to) out of their clubs.
Well duh... this is how to have a steady customer base without having to put up with minorities. Why do you think a local bar went to country night?
ReplyDelete4:53-True,and the clientele who frequent country bars spend more money.
ReplyDeleteso instead of having 'those' kind in the bar, it will be full of rednecks.
ReplyDeletesame same
10:09: "...same..."? Not even close. Fights, altercations with various weapons, drug problems...NOT something you'll find very often in a Country bar, but it IS something you will find every weekend in every single hip-hop club anywhere.
ReplyDeleteThere is a reason that the LB turns down every bar/club application that would possibly attract the type of person that frequents rap clubs. Country music venues pass easily.
The place will be lucky to make a season..... It would be more profitable to tear the whole thing down and make some much needed parking. The way oc is heading not much will be around in a few years.....
ReplyDelete439-I'm well aware of OC bars and clubs. I've lived there, been everything from a bouncer to bar manager. It is what it is, and it's gotten worse over the years. Once a vacation spot makes that turn, it's almost impossible to recover.
ReplyDelete10:55: I think you're wrong... That is, I HOPE you are wrong.
ReplyDeleteAt the strong risk of not being totally politically correct, and sounding a bit racist (which I am not) let's call it like it is: Unless OC takes on a very conservative - a VERY hard line - on Blacks that come to town thinking that it's wide open, then it will be the death knell of Ocean City. Myrtle Beach and Virginia Beach have both been through it and survived, ONLY by taking the hard line. Ocean City will need to do the same.
