OCEAN CITY – City Council members squared off this week over last month’s incident involving an Ocean City resident being ejected from council chambers with some members apologizing while others stood behind the decision.
At the conclusion of a Mayor and City Council meeting last month, while Ocean City resident Herb Pawlukewicz was at the podium addressing the Mayor and City Council, a citizen in the audience, Ellie Diegelmann, was asked to leave council chambers by a police officer after clapping in response to a comment and was accused of disorderly conduct.
The majority of the council claims they were all focused on Pawlukewicz and did not recognize the discourse between Diegelmann and the officer until she was already packing up her belongings and leaving the building. At that point, Councilman Brent Ashley asked Council President Lloyd Martin if Diegelmann could be given a warning and be allowed to stay. Martin replied, “No.”

Do as I say, not as I do. How many times have we seen this in Salisbury. But it's always OK for the Council and Mayor to clap whenever they feel like it.
ReplyDeleteThese people need to stop acting like we work for them, while they actually work for us.
I can recall taking pictures at Council Meetings, sometimes needing a flash. They passed new rules saying you can no longer use a flash or lighting and guess what, they NEVER once stopped the Daily Times from using a flash and or WBOC or WMDT for using lights on their cameras.
The OC Council, (some of them) are out of control and out of line. Remember that in the next election.
She disrupts the meeting every time she shows up. I don't blame the police for removing her.
ReplyDeleteGood riddance!
Joe,
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell are you talking about, think about this next time during elections?
You KNOW DAMN WELL these people "the citizens" don't have the attention span long enough to focus for the next time or elections, let alone a day... You also know these people don't give two rats asses about what is and will happen in the future...
My point: Look at the workers at PRMC they didn't give a rats ass, they even called people like you and me racists and anything under the sun because why? they were not affected... UNTIL THEY WERE, then they had a problem with the same stuff we do and what they called us racist over... but who was right? FUNNY HUH?
Not to mention, everyone will based their vote on somes stupid debate which has nothing to do with anything...
IT IS CLEAR these people are not waking up or gonna wake up... it is clear that once the dems win the house in the mid terms, call off the dogs, for it will be over then and nothing, I repeat NOTHING will stop them from taking over anything and everything...
WHY, WHY are you still wasting you time trying to help these dumb ass people, who showed you what they think of you by not even showing up to vote at all let alone for you...
You can't help someone who does not want it, and to finally add, YOU CAN'T FIX STUPID!!!
Mike Dunn used to throw people out for clapping.
ReplyDeleteThen he came back and led a crowd in clapping.
Do as I say, not as I do.
The hyprocrasy is that before the election when that vulgar group that supported the now majority not only clapped but booed people not one of these suddenly concerned about decorm council members opened their mouths.
ReplyDeleteNow all of a sudden they want people to believe they've got some class about them-LOL.
MOST ie: the "majority" of the new council is corrupt to the core. Catch the part when the citizen called them down for the cover-up of the recent article where Slymeck cost the town $100,000 with his intervention in the fire departments recent call? They are so out of control it's time to throw in the towel and get the H&&& out.
ReplyDeleteHow about this new and unique idea to those who vehemently disagree (or agree) with the council?...
ReplyDeleteMaybe practice a little bit of civility? How about respect for the forum?
Hell, how about practicing some respect for your fellow man?
Children - CHILDREN - who act-out in that manner are immediately scolded for such behavior.
Too many people feel the First Amendment also gives one the right to be a total jerk. Sadly, maybe it does. But there's nothing to say that someone cannot reprimand you for your manners.
At the risk of falling to her level: I've seen her act many times. Personally, I think she's a bit loony. Check that: Very loony. That's MY First Amendment right.
That person is a taxpayer and deserves to be heard. If the Council doesn't like it they should resign immediately. If they make a fool of themselves, so be it. In the mean time, you are elected and paid by the taxpayers. All she did was CLAP and agree with the person speaking. GET OVER IT or get into another line of work.
ReplyDeleteOne can speak with respect, Joe. I've heard you do it many times.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous 5:11, thank you. Your absolutely right. I've never stood in front of any Council and been disrespectful. However, that's how I was raised. I do not think clapping is disrespectful and if its good enough for the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts whenever they come in for recognition, why should the rules change for the taxpayer. The Council can't pick and choose who can and can't speak. Oh, wait, that's how the President holds his press conferences, I forgot, how convenient. This is NOT the kind of government I want.

ReplyDeleteHush.
4:32-Your comments screams hypocrit. It's clear you yourself were raised by people who didn't value honesty nor principles and consistancy. Don't dispair there is time for you to grow as the person you would like to be (as opposed to the one you were groomed to be by bad parental influences) as evidenced by the first part of your comment before you started acting like "CHILDREN" and reverted to name calling.
ReplyDelete1:12: I'm 63 years old. The growth is over, I'm afraid. "Honesty", "principles"? I was a judge for Probate Court (called "Orphan's Court" in these parts) in a mid-West town for 27 years, now retired to the shore.
ReplyDeleteI know loons. Sometimes you just must call a spade a spade.
