Government Shutdown Impasse Continues After White House Meet As Upcoming Debt Battle Looms Large

The shutdown ended Day Two even after President Obama met with congressional leaders to resolve political posturing over Obamacare. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid suggested the possibility of default if the debt limit bill becomes interwined with government funding.
WASHINGTON — They came together, but they’re still miles apart.

President Obama and leaders of Congress met face-to-face Wednesday for the first time since the government shutdown began — but they made no progress toward ending the deadlock that has forced 800,000 federal workers off the job and disrupted services from coast to coast.

The Republicans insisted that changes to Obamacare be part of any deal to fund the government. The President and the Democrats refused.

“We had a nice, polite conversation,” House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) said after the White House sitdown. But he said that Democrats “will not negotiate” and that “we’ve got divided government.”

  2. "...and disrupted services from coast to coast."
These services being along the same lines as those closed during 'sequestration'. As Obama said, "Those that will affect the most Americans and be felt most."
This man is a POS communist who cares nothing of the American people.

  3. At last. All kinds of government services that I neither want or need are shut down.
As far as I'm concerned, keep them shut down!

  4. Great point, 326, whether intended or not! If the government ever goes into sequestration again, and it will every 6 months, Obamacare, your healthcare, will wind up frozen just like today! So, you are scheduled for your surgery and another shut down occurs, you are on hold, whether your issue is life threatening or not. Oh, but if you die, and sequestration ends, then you can have your surgery.

    Isn't that better?
