Yesterday's OC Fire Started In Kitchen, Ruled Accidental Shortly after 5 p.m. yesterday, Oct. 10, Ocean City Fire Department personnel responded to the Dunes Mist IV condominium building on 128th Street and discovered a working fire in a kitchen that was spreading throughout the unit. The Ocean City Fire Marshals Office has ruled the cause of the fire as accidental. A city press release reports, "According to witnesses, the fire began in the kitchen and rapidly spread through the interior of the home. Crews from the Ocean City Fire Department worked immediately to control the fire, which was extinguished a short time later. " While the residents were able to safely leave their home, a pet cat remained, and firefighters were able to retrieve it and returned the pet to its owners. No injuries were reported by the occupants or the animal, who was transported to the Ocean City Animal Hospital. “It is National Fire Prevention Week and we have been spreading the word to our residents and visitors that more fires start in the kitchen than any other part of the home,” said Ocean City Fire Department Chief Chris Larmore. “Thankfully, no one was injured in this incident; however it is a testament to how dangerous kitchen fires can be. We hope that by sharing this year’s fire safety campaign with our community we will be teaching residents how to prevent kitchen fires from starting in the first place.” Photo: A cat receives oxygen on the scene of the fire yesterday. Can't find its way out of the Giant parking lot. Rumor has it that no one on board can read a road map, let alone a maritime chart. Understand that " Captain Chesapeake" from Channel 45 fame will become the latest pain (I mean paid) employee of the SFD and will be the U Boat ( I mean fire boat) commander. He will have the rank of real admiral, answer only to Hoppes, and will be given a 28 foot Hatteras yacht with tuna tower and outriggers as his personal command sea vehicle. An on duty firefighter will be detailed to take him to the Giant, Wawa, Rita's of Chic Filet in his city assigned Lincoln Navigator
This MIGHT be one of the animal masks the SALISBURY MD KENNEL CLUB has donated to fire departments in the area. The masks and Police Dog safety equipment are paid for by donations and fund raising events at the Training Center on Winterplace Parkway.
Is the S.S. Hoppes still en route?
