In a blunt letter to teachers and administrators on Monday, Baltimore County school Superintendent Dallas Dance admitted that his school district’s implementation of the national Common Core has been a nearly unmitigated disaster.
Throughout the first month of the school year, Baltimore County elementary school teachers have experienced a host of frustrating problems in their attempts to access the school language arts portion of the statewide curriculum, reports The Baltimore Sun.
Problems arose in August when district administrators foisted a glitch-filled computerized version of the curriculum onto teachers just before the school year began.

I venture to say the idiots at the helm in Wicomico county don't even see the deception and lies and legion of problems in this program. the students in Wicomico county will suffer; not the superintendent and his cohorts.
ReplyDeleteNCLB was not meeting it's mandated targets (by law) and so a rush was on to move the goalposts on both state and national levels before the game clock ticked down.
ReplyDeleteRace To The Top was rolled out by US Dept of Ed as a money laden carrot with waivers (there's that word again) from certain NCLB targets for those selected. US Secy of Ed is Obama's old hoops buddy and former head of disastrous Chicago schools; talk about social promotion!
The academic powerhouse of Delaware was first to be chosen for Race To The Top dough.
Common Core got impetus via Race To The Top and those with their nostrils fixed firmly to Obama's rear belt loop followed in tow.
Common Core is an intentionally gutted curriculum.
