In a conversation this evening I asked Councilwoman Stevie Prettyman flat out, I hear you are not running again. She replied, yeah, I'm not running again.
When her term is up Stevie will have served the citizens of Wicomico County for a total of 16 years. I personally want to thank Stevie for her service and will forewarn you right here and now, I will not allow negative comments on this Post.
Joe, this brought tears to my eyes. So sorry she isn't running again.
ReplyDeleteWith her and Gail leaving what do we have to look forward to? Not much.
ReplyDeleteI wish both would stay until they couldn't get to the meetings.
say what you will about her but as a retired Wicomico County employee I am grateful she always looked after our best interests. than you Ms. Prettyman
ReplyDeleteI just knew you were tired of running back and forth from Florida to Salisbury knowing you were on a schedule. I foresee more beach time. Thanks for all that you have done over the years.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Rusty Molnar would consider running again? He was council president a few years ago.
ReplyDeleteIs a negative comment to point out that both she and Barko have become RINO's along with Matt Holloway and John Hall, who have been from day one? This may be an opportunity to replace them with real republicans that together with Bob Culver and Joe Holloway could stop the mounting malaise under Rick Pollitt.
ReplyDeleteJoe, we need you to run to fill her spot!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your year's of service to those of us who live in Wicomico County. Several years ago, Mrs. Prettyman helped my family with a situation we were faced with. She was very professional and she refused to accept any credit for her good deed to us. I wanted to send a letter to the newspaper but she asked me not to. So sorry to see she is not going to run for office again.
ReplyDeleteJob well done Stevie. Good Luck and enjoy the freedom.Delete your internet connections.God bless.
ReplyDelete12:40am I hear the term Rino a lot. In fact, I'm not even sure what it's supposed to mean anymore because some use it to mean "anyone who disagrees with a conservative no matter the issue."
ReplyDeleteTo borrow from Reagan: I don't feel I left the Republican Party, but that they left me. I am a Republican, but I'm not sure anyone else is anymore.
Guess those who you mentioned didn't support an issue that you wanted them to. And, now you call them Rinos. So very very little of you.
8:36 AM:
ReplyDeleteAmen. "Conservatives" are so off the rails today that Reagan would be facing a Tea Party challenger calling him a RINO in the primary if he were to run for Congress.
RINO-republican who is not fiscally conservative and supports anything akin to Big Brotherism for example, speed and red light cameras.
ReplyDeleteI live in that district, I think I will run for the spot.. I have been thinking about it for a while. Nothing bothers me more than people complaining that don't even participate in the process
ReplyDeleteJoe, you would do a great public service to post the district maps. Maybe that would get people thinking about the district they live in and whether they would like to run.
ReplyDeleteLooks like another campaign for Muir Bota
ReplyDeleteShe lost me totally with her flip flop on BMS. I can't ever forgive that vote. It will harm this county for many years to come.
ReplyDeleteI wish she would stay in she is one of the few I really admire what she has stood for, the way she conducted herself a real professional, a real class act. You will be greatly missed.
ReplyDeleteMy friend and I lobbied the council many years ago to accept DNR funds to make Roaring Point a county park.
ReplyDeleteMs. Prettyman seemed to agonize over the decision, and found herself in the swing-vote seat-she swallowed, looked at me for a long while, and voted yes.
She didn't do it for me, she did it because it was right.
Imagine what that point would look like now if she had voted the other way.
Thank you for your admirable service!
Monlar voted for the largest tax increase to ever hit Wicomico County. He needs too stay werever he is.

ReplyDeleteYou are correct, Rusty was responsible for the largest real property tax increase ever - 24.6%. And then to top it off - he was advocating yet another increase the very next year. He is bad news for Wicomico's taxpayers.
Now as for Stevie Prettyman - she is like many other politicians who hang around to long and end up far removed from the constituency. I have seen it happen time and time again. The conservatives loose their grounding and end-up advocating the very thing that they fought against when they first ran for office. Speaking for myself - I believe it is time for her to exit.
To 11:09 AM - I agree. She lost me to when she flipped flopped. I notice that her flip just cost us another 11+ mil recently as the county council just approved the latest round of borrowing.
ReplyDeleteI guess I just don't get it when it comes to standing your ground.
To 3:33 PM> - Don't feel bad, and you can add John McCain to the list. I saw where his Arizona constituents just protested outside his house because of his stand on backing Obama's stand on Syria. The protesters basically said - 'We sent you to Washington to represent us - and that is exactly what we expect you to do.'
ReplyDeleteHe should throw in the towel to.
Let's hope that Marc Kilmer runs for her seat on the Council -- he would be a net gain for us fiscal conservatives.
ReplyDeleteMarc Kilmer is the right person for Prettyman's seat. Unbiased, intelligent and willing to serve. Go Marc.
ReplyDeleteI agree - Marc Kilmer is the man that seems up for the task. GO MARC!
