WHY ARE TRUCKERS THREATENING TO ‘SHUT DOWN WASHINGTON, D.C.’ FOR THREE DAYS STRAIGHT?

A group of truckers is reportedly planning to shut Washington, D.C. down for three days straight starting on Oct. 11 to protest the “corruption against the Constitution.”

The “Truckers To Shut Down America” Facebook page has more than 16,000 likes, though it is unclear how many truckers actually intend on taking part in the disruptive protest.

“The American people are sick and tired of the corruption that is destroying America! We therefore declare a GENERAL STRIKE on the weekend of October 11-13, 2013! Truck drivers will not haul freight! Americans can strike in solidarity with truck drivers!” the group’s description reads.

  1. ...vast majority of truckers don't own their trucks. A strike will not happen, it will be business as usual. Although I do expect some to go to DC. I live within 10 minutes of the White House, and know a guy who has his entire fleet(2 dozen) that will be there. With paid vacation for all drivers.

Time to embrace Nat Gas. Either use it, or lose it.

Nat Gas is good to heat the house, but why would we turn our back on oil when it is a PLENTIFUL resource that is just being artificially restricted?

  3. If our politicians weren't corrupt with the Saudis. We WOULD be drilling in America years ago and gas would be $1.00 gallon but until they die out we ate F...d

  4. 622-I'm nont against domestic supplies. I believe in starving the foreign entities who use their profits to hurt us. I'm heavily invested in both domestic oil and gas. I'd rather have my money stay here at home, than be sent abroad.

But, oil is traded on a global market. Despite the fact we're pumping out record amounts, it will always be traded globally, and in USD.

  5. I think the important thing is no commerce Oct 11-13. No purchases including gas no banking including ATM withdrawals. If you have to buy anything at least use cash and not a credit card.

It is estimated that owner-operators make up about 70% of the interstate driver population.

Joe, can I get paid for correcting all these mistakes, lies, and misinformation I find in your commenters diarrhea of the mouths?

  9. 9:16, If more people decided to use cash instead of credit cards it would paralyze the banking industry which depends heavily on the fees.

  10. 11:08 "estimated" being the key word. Tard

And most truck drivers don't speak english, so I doubt they'll understand what they're trying to put on here.

    1. How many miles have you driven commercially? There are a lot of non english speaking drivers out there, most of them work for big companies not independents. The independent owner operator is the person putting food on your tables, clothes on your backs and fuel in your gas tanks. If you don't support them sit back and STFU. Let the big kids handle it.

Estimated at 70% is still not anywhere near the numbers you claim.

And now you want to toss in most don't speak english. It's quite obvious you know nothing of what you speak.

  12. Trains can haul 3 times per carload more than a tractor trailer can haul, and for way less money.Truckers better watch out.

  13. and will still need trucks to carry them away from the railyard. Trains are slower also, so if you're not in a hurry for your freight, ship it by rail.

And unless you own a spur, you will still pay a truck to deliver it.

That crap has been spewed for decades. Trucks will never be obsolete.

  14. Folks remember a few years ago the truckers protested the high price of diesel fuel...that was very effective. I support the effort and think that they are right ..it is time we start protesting the corruption in Washington. The people on capital hill do nothing but take care of themselves. All of those idiots have no concept of reality and they are the enemy it is that simple.

There might be some drivers out there that don't speak english, wonder if they carry an interpreter with them when they pick up and deliver, but certainly not MOST drivers like was said.

Both the independent and company drivers put food on tables and gas in tanks, so that was just another ignorant statement.

Nobody is going to STFU, especially when told to by someone like you. If you're wrong, you should stfu. Don't try to silence people when they point out your mistakes and try to educate you. I know you want people not to say anything so you will look like you are correct, but it's not going to happen.

Let the big kids handle it? That's about the only true statement you have said. There are a lot of kids out there who think they are truck drivers, and I believe you are one of them.

At least you act like a kid on here.
