MORE TALL SHIPS COMING TO OC? Special Events Head Pitches Concentrated Effort To Lure More To Resort In Future

OCEAN CITY – More tall ships and similar vessels will be sought to come to Ocean City in the future as a result of the significant success of the El Galeon.

At the conclusion of Tuesday afternoon’s Recreation and Park Commission meeting, Special Events Superintendent Frank Miller proposed to the commission the idea of Ocean City hosting other tall ships in the future and a concerted effort being made to lure them to town.

Last month Ocean City hosted El Galeon, which was berthed at the bayside boardwalk between 3rd and 4th streets. The tall ship is a replica of the 16th Century ships that Spanish explorers sailed on to discover much of the new world.

  1. It's a shame that Transportation Management never bothered to inform Transportation Workers that they were eligible for a FREE tour of the recent tall ship. By the time the Workers found out, the ship was gone. Wish I had known and were able to take advantage of the opportunity. Unfortunately, some of us are simply Transportation Workers.

  2. Quit complaining! I understand that this was to be announced as part of the employee appreciation program planned for September. Tickets should have gone on sale by now. All OC management are invited and there will be a drawing for non management invitees. The success depends on employees purchasing a lot of tickets to pass this information on!
