Speed Camera On Old Ocean City Road

A Viewer just called in to warn the public of a red Ford Escape with a speed camera east bound near Beaver Run Elementary.

  1. Joe, can you please repost when the cameras "should" be active, I could have sworn it was only when school is in session. Maybe they are getting it setup?

  4. If you do a search for this post "Wicomico County Council Adopts Amended Versions of Controversial Bills"

    It says:
The council passed an amended version of the proposed speed camera legislation. Under the amended bill, speed cameras would have to stay within a school zone – not within 1/2 mile as permitted by Maryland law. In addition, speed cameras would only be operable during school days and times.

I do not see when this was changed.

  5. anonymous 9:44, It has changed. 6 am to 8 pm is correct, all year and I even believe it includes weekends. That is my understanding of the latest.

  6. same type they have on pemberton drive. theres a certain area these have to be parked. check the distance to the school.

why cant someone put up a sandwich-style billboard in front and behind this vehicle?

  7. Are there restrictions on the days and times tickets can be issued?

Yes. Maryland law restricts the recording of images in school zones to Monday through Friday, from 6 AM to 8 PM. Within those limits, each jurisdiction or municipality may set the time periods for enforcement.

Can someone link to when the county changed the enforcement to when school is NOT in session? I have searched and can not find it on the county's website.

  10. I found this on the faq page. Anyone know if this was done?

"Maryland law requires local jurisdictions to publish notice of the location of all unmanned stationary ASE systems on its website and in a newspaper of general circulation in the jurisdiction."

Every day you live you are breaking some law somewhere.
When they post ridiculous low speed limits then place drone cameras to collect money in the form of fines, you are okay with it?
I say throw a brick out your window as you drive by.
What happened to a free country?
How much more of this will you sheeple accept?

  14. 1143 AM has a point! Also daily setup logs have to be public info, as well as calibration logs. Make sure they include motorcycle calibrations.

  15. Dam I just drove by doing the speed limit, oh I forgot I aways do. The camera is for those who speed.

  16. Maybe viewers could "call in" to remind readers to obey the speed limit and what the speed limits are. Maybe a viewer can "call in" to let a criminal know when a neighbors house is empty. No different than flashing your lights to vehicles to warn of radar, which I believe is illegal.

  17. Why does it matter when the cameras are up and running? its a school zone go the speed limit. just because school isnt in session kids can still be at the school for summer camp or other activities. go the speed limit in school zone even if there is no speed camera set up.
