He suffered several life threatening injuries and was transported by Ocean City EMS to Peninsula Regional Medical Center and later transferred to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center.
At the time of this release, the scooter operator is listed in critical condition. The driver of the motorized scooter was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident. Alcohol use by the driver of the scooter is believed to be a factor in this collision. There are no charges pending against the driver of the box truck.
Why is he in the Hospital? He was wearing his all mighty Helmet!
ReplyDeleteArticle should say "who struck", not "who was struck".
ReplyDeleteOC has had a HUGE problem with those MORONS disobeying the same traffic rules as Cars, I have seen them weaving in/out of cars and traffic shouting/screaming while on there Mopeds.......Cops get out and do you DAMN JOB.
ReplyDeleteIs a motorcycle license necessary to drive a scooter?
ReplyDelete1:17 so I guess the police now have to drive the scooters for these people? OCPD does an outstanding job being outnumbers 10,000 to 1.
ReplyDeleteI don't think people here want to hear the truth. This 26 yo came to OC to vacation, partied, and rented a scooter. Under many circumstances, this is not a big deal. The problem is however that rending a scooter for recreational purposes in OC is like doing it on the Capital Beltway around Washington. If you had a scanner yesterday, you would have heard comments coming from OC about a scooter laying in the road and even "there's a lot of blood everywhere". Well, they pealed this person off the pavement, shipped him to one of the most serious trauma centers on the Eastern Shore, and they shipped him to Maryland's shock trauma. Well, he's dead. Somebody earned $50 for renting a person a scooter to a person who lost out on a highway battle with a large truck. May he RIP. How many more visitors will be invited to have the same fun?
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, the parents that put their young kids on the Coastal highway to ride in the same "bike lane" are just as looney.
