HARVARD STUDY: NO CORRELATION BETWEEN GUN CONTROL AND LESS VIOLENT CRIME

A Harvard Study titled "Would Banning Firearms Reduce Murder and Suicide?" looks at figures for "intentional deaths" throughout continental Europe and juxtaposes them with the U.S. to show that more gun control does not necessarily lead to lower death rates or violent crime.

Because the findings so clearly demonstrate that more gun laws may in fact increase death rates, the study says that "the mantra that more guns mean more deaths and that fewer guns, therefore, mean fewer deaths" is wrong.

  3. Well,... we knew that, and have been saying it over and over again. A new study was not needed.

Next, we said that in places where it's legal for people to carry defensive firearms, there is less violent crime, but I will now guess that you will need a new study to repeat that same act over again expecting a different result.

Well, in some circles, that is the definition of insanity, but if you need to practice it, go ahead!

Please write us with your "new" results! We are on the edges of our seats waiting for it!

  5. The fact that this survey was of Europe skews it greatly. Don't get me wrong.., I appreciate what it's saying but...
A European mother can leave her baby in it's carriage outside of a shop door while she's inside and have absolutely no fear of harm coming to her child.
There's the difference. The European people's mindset, character and actions DO NOT mimic those of this country.
    In other words.., useless info.

  6. ginn, so, if I'm in like, say, Greece, I can park the baby carriage outside the store during the riots, and nothing will happen. Okay. So, If I go to a country like Sweden, where everybody has a gun, I'll be a high crime victim most of the time.

    Got it!

    Try to stay on topic.

The study is suggesting that gun control on either side of the spectrum (either liberal, conservative or moderate policies) have no statistically significant correlation with violent crime. If you don't agree with this then you must not agree with gravity or addition.

To me this means that liberal gun policies, conservative gun policies; they are both moot.

Finally, thank you Joe for posting an article with proper citation it really does give you credibility. Also, if anyone wants to actually read the whole study (its fascinating) here is the link:
