EASTERN SHORE MEMBERS WORKING TO WIN FAIRNESS ON THE JOB

AFSCME 3 members on the Eastern Shore are Making Our Voices Heard. We packed room at our Central Labor Council meeting with Delegate Norm Conway.

AFSCME members from the Holly Center, Deer’s Head, ECI and Dorchester County DHMH urged Delegate Conway to use his position as Chair of the House Appropriations Committee to improve working conditions for public workers across the state.

ECI employees John Baker and Debbie Williams expressed deep concern that DPSCS Secretary Gary Maynard is not acting quickly to investigate and hold accountable security managers who failed officers in inmate on staff attacks at correctional facilities around the state. Conway agreed to set up a meeting with correctional officers, DPSCS heads and himself on the Eastern Shore to hear concerns and brainstorm solutions.

Holly Center worker Debbie Coles said, "Holly Center leadership isn’t focused on patients, but on how the facility looks on the outside, and favoritism runs deep with discipline not given equally for equal acts. The Chairman agreed to use his position to set up a similar meeting with Holly Center staff and management to address these concerns.

  8. Good thing Norm that he and his fellow Congresscreeps are exempt from Obamacare--he would be denied treatment based on his enormous gut. Isn't it special that the persons who forced Obamacare on this country have managed to be exempt from it.

  11. Norman defined through his "unfairness" of giveaways for votes. Years of public service to steal from the makers and give to the takers. His time to retire please.
