In Louisiana, on August 22, an 8-year-old boy allegedly shot and killed his 90-year-old grandmother after playing “Grand Theft Auto IV.” The game is rated M, which means it is for ages 17 and older.
No motive was given, but the boy killed the woman right after playing the game. The boy took the family gun and shot Marie Smothers in the head while she was watching television. The child said it was accidental, but evidence led police to think the shooting was intentional. Smothers was the boy’s caregiver. He was released to his parents on Thursday night.

Yes, lets blame this on video games and not the fact that an 8 year old had easy access to a loaded gun
ReplyDeleteVideo games kill people; not 8 year olds who know where a gun is, There are no responsible adults here who first give an 8 YO GTA 4 to pass his time with, show him where the gun is, and think dinner is at 7. Noooo! Try him as an adult and excuse the caregivers!
ReplyDeleteso did he stand in the living room do three circles and raise his hands twice and have all his stars removed? any person that has played that game will get it
ReplyDeletewe cant blame the games, the creators of the games, or the guns. lets put blame where it belongs. the adults who 1) let a 8 year old play this adult game, 2) kept gunin kids reach and left it loaded, 3)egnored the fact that this kid had issues that should of been addressed not fueled with violent games and weapons
ReplyDeleteI'd bet money the child was on some add or adhd medications. Or mood altering.
ReplyDeleteviolence begets violence.
