Where Public High School Costs $600, Including A Mandatory Chromebook

It’s not unusual to see public schools that charge students for extracurriculars or sports, but we were surprised to see this bill from an Illinois school district where it costs $586 to enroll in tenth grade, including $300 for a Chromebook.

  1. Excellent. Charge all parents. You want kids, You pay for the education that little Johnny gets.

  2. I totally agree with the school in requiring a computer for every student. Must have a reason for their preference (probably compatibility), so I will go with their choice. Best thing schools can do to boost education. I'm sure a really needy student could find a donor.

  3. Couldn't do that here. All the ones that get free lunch would have to be subsidized and us tax payers would have to fork it out for their computer and tuition!
