Yep that's right. Engine 16 getting items for lunch and for dinner to be cooked at the firehouse on Cypress St. People in the United Sates commonly buy food at grocery stores and cook it for meals. They will work a 24 hour shift today and will eat regardless of what you think. It would be so cool to have you assigned to ride with a crew for a day. After you ran 6 to 10 calls before noon and not even close to seeing lunch I bet you'd beg for them to stop at WaWa. Get a job and do something productive for a change. You have too much time on your hands.
12:04 Well considering most of that 24hr period will be spent getting paid to sit around a do nothing at the tax payers expense. They should make Salisbury fire department a volunteer department it sure would save some tax dollars.
Are they not allowed to eat? Oh, wait, they surely could go get their food in their private vehicles, and when the tones drop because your house is on fire, they can oh so carefully put their food down, drive back to the fire house and get into the engine and go to the fire....but wait, by then your house has burned down and your pets are deceased, any pray you haven't perished. Have you seen these guys on duty, especially the volunteers? Tones drop; they throw their food down, leave their families all to rescue the ones who give them so much crap about dumb stuff like this. Seriously people, thank them, don't persecute. Live a day in their shoes, save some lives and people’s homes, you’ll have a different perspective!
12:04, your head must be in the clouds. Or you are blind, deaf, and stupid. I don't see where firefighters are allowed on my tax dollars to take a multimillion dollar rig, which sucks diesel fuel, to go shopping for lunch. Plus seeing a whole crew of six go to the store. It does not make sense. It is very economically and fiscally irresponsible for them to take a rig to get lunch. And oh. I have a job thank you very much. More of a job than you. You might be one of them firefighters. If you need to get lunch and dinner items while you are on paid salary, use a damn chase vehicle! Thats what they are made for!
I usually don't worry about all the fussing going on about the fire department. Trust me if I need them and they save me and my family I could care less what they do. BUT I saw them in Giant today and there were 3 men doing the shopping. This I don't understand. Maybe someone from the fire department could explain whey they use the engines to run errands around town. There might be a very good reason for it that we don't know or understand.

What fantasy land are you living in? Engine 16 has never ever ran more 6 to 10 calls before noon and they missed a lunch. They may run 1 call occasionally and that may be a false alarm or self dispatching themselves to chase an ambulance call. Now it's a fact that the Paramedic ambulances do the quite frequently and the burn out factor is pretty high.
I do thank you for admitting what they do for lunch and dinner and taking the breaks at Wawa.

Fire engines are supposed to last 20 years or longer, but these clowns have been replacing them every 5. They would last much longer if they didn't run errands for every firefighter on board. Not only do they go to Wawa and Giant they go to the post office, the bank, SECU, their divorce attorneys office, their part time job to pick up their pay check, bank to cash the part time job check, home to let the dog out to pee, Comcast to pay their bill, GOB office to suck up to Jim, and the list goes on.
Let them try to ask me for another donation and I'll tell them exactly where to shove it.

ReplyDeleteSeriously, get a job. Or if you're so wealthy and don't need to work, maybe you can volunteer - say for a fire company?
ReplyDeleteif you're such a badass journalist, why not get and inside scoop...
Judging by the lack of comments here interest is waning on this topic...
ReplyDeleteTime for a new horse to beat Joe.

It is a blatant abuse of equipment, taxpayer monies, and time. Why do you guys have so much time available to be on this blog so often?
You get paid to sleep, you steal city property to go joy riding whenever you feel like it, under the guise of getting lunch.
You want to show off and feel like a big man driving a fire truck around the city. Hoping the women will notice you.
Well they DO notice you, but not in the way that you hoped.
They are on here too making comments about how childish you all are being.
So you better go back to the bars and wait until they get drunk enough to be interested in you. And drive there in YOUR own vehicle.
