Like other New Jersey (STONJ1) shore towns, Wildwood is trying to attract visitors afterHurricane Sandy ravaged the region in October. It just doesn’t want to see their underwear.
The Cape May County municipality has banned sagging pants on its boardwalk in hopes of making the resort community more family-friendly. Those caught with trousers that sink 3 inches (8 centimeters) below the hips, exposing either underwear or bare skin, are subject to fines of as much as $200 and 40 hours of community service. The ordinance also prohibits bare feet and going shirtless after 8 p.m.

I heard about another big fight in OC yesterday-happened late afternoon. Sagging pants crowd of course.
ReplyDeleteSagging pants crowd = people of color?
DeleteI love it, OCMD should be NEXT.
ReplyDelete9:55 what did sagging pants have to do with the fight? I bet those guys all were wearing basketball shoes as well, should we ban those?
ReplyDeleteOC undoubtedly needs a crackdown on unruly youth behavior, but banning a certain style of clothing isn't going to change anything. There are already laws against exposing your buttcrack in public. Simply exposing boxers is certainly no more lewd than a bikini, which you see everywhere in Ocean City.
Laws like this are more about racist people being afraid of young blacks than anything else.
12:59: "Laws like this are more about racist people being afraid of young blacks than anything else.."
ReplyDeleteOF COURSE they are! So what is your point? Do you really think that nightclubs enforce a "dress code" because they want a good-looking, stylish crowd? Of course not. It's to keep the element that breeds the trouble the hell out of their clubs. Period.
So the town has it's own dress code. So what. It's trying to control the idiots.
Some may remember back in the 60's that it was against the law in Ocean City to carry a blanket on the boardwalk (really!). Why? To control the unwanted element that were ruining the town. Today they are called vacationers with families and kids - back then, they were "hippies".
You call it racist, I call it common sense.
(Just for the record: Without naming the clubs, I know of at least three of the top places in OC would NOT allow anyone in wearing Pagan's or Hell's Angel's colors. Is that somehow racist? Or just common sense?)
Wow! 12:59-You really really need to get out and see what's going on in the real world! Saggy pants wearers are a sub culture. Within that sub culture are some really anti social behaviours. You people need to get out of your denial and fact the facts. Any parent of a son who starts wearing this "fashion" need to be extra diligent because they are in for a rough road ahead. Don't let the kid tell you it's nothing because it's not and you will not ever ever find a normal well adjusted young man dressing like this.
ReplyDelete12:59-You people need to stop being so silly. When's the last time a guy in a suit or a Ralph Lauren polo shirt killed someone or robbed a local convenience store?
ReplyDeleteNo you will not ever find a NORMAL well adjusted young man wearing their pants saggy. It's ghetto and low class.
Also it's not unruly youth behavior unless of course you excuse gun violence as unruly youth behavior which wouldn't surprise me one bit because you are either completely naïve or in major denial.
Here's a dose of reality for you-it's the saggy pants crowd coming to OC causing havoc
Here's another dose of reality for you-unless you are completely stupid or blind everyone knows the way they have crapped up their own neighborhoods and OC doesn't need it nor want it and banning these pants are a way to start nipping it in the bud. it's not racism it's reality.
Maybe in your small uneducated mind 10:15. It's so apparent you have not a thing to back up your 'no it's racism' comment.
ReplyDeleteThe reality is to you the truth sucks so you don't want to hear it. We have your number. You are not fooling a soul around here.
Go tell them you thoughts in the "hood." They are easily manipulated.
