According to reporters from China Central Television (via the New York Daily News), there were 900 colony-forming units of bacteria per millileter, above the national limit of 100 CFU. By 800, if I’m doing the math correctly, which in this one instance I feel fairly confident I am.

Report: Ice Cubes At Beijing KFC Have 13 Times The Bacteria Of Toilet Water
Customers at KFC restaurants in China might be ready to go with iceless drinks, after a new report found that the cubes at Beijing locations are apparently filled with 13 times more bacteria than toilet water. Other fast food outlets also underwent testing, including McDonald’s and a Chinese chain, but KFC had the worst results of the bunch.

That's disgusting!
ReplyDeleteA fast food place I worked at had a water filter that had not been changed in three years. In side the clear tube was dark mold or fungus like material. No one knew what this tube was until the day I said, "What is that? It looks like mildew." The filter cartridge had been overlooked by management and had not been replaced in three years. Mgr also tend to forget about the heat/air filters therefore long term workers end up with respiratory and nasal problems
ReplyDeleteWhy just China?? The US branches are not any better, I'll bet.
ReplyDeleteCalifornia to start recycling toilet water soon.
ReplyDeleteas a patient in prmc, I couldn't drink the water with ice in it because of the stink. wonder how often those machines are cleaned. betcha personnel use patient pitchers as scoops for the ice. imagine the deposit left behind from every patient.
