LOCAL NAACP SPEAKS OUT ABOUT LORE' CHAMBERS AND MAYOR JIM IRETON

  1. All through the Mayoral campaign Ireton made allegations during the debates that Joe Albero was a racist.

    I believe in light of the above - the old chinese proverb prevails;

'A rat who gnaws at a cat's tail invites destruction'

To Ireton - the chickens have now come home to roost.

  2. What does it say about the Mayor's professionalism?

    Does he have any?

  3. What can you say - the people of Salisbury made a big, big mistake.

I did not vote for Ireton because I have witnessed his tantrums before.

  6. Jim Ireton is a homosexual man that dislikes blacks and females. I rest my case.

  7. Well Ireton appointed a racist as a fire chief. Remember the African American that was forced out because he couldn't take it any more.

  9. Lireton is a racist. I saw him bashing a black man that walked into Mojo's recently.

  10. Affirmative action is an admission of inferiority and gifts lesser qualified minorities with a job or position.
    END AFFIRMATIVE ACTION NOW.
Every applicant should be assessed and hired based on personal merit, knowledge and skill regardless of skin color.

    THAT IS FAIR TO ALL.

  11. The NAACP has lost credibility due to the Trayvon case.

  14. I must respond to this letter from our local NAACP president.
When the election came about , I ask who was considered the best candidate . There was a bit of a laugh and then this response " we will not be voting for a blogger".
The only thing I will say further is " suffer in silence" or call Al Sharpton.
You have an idiot for president , you have an idiot for mayor , what say you now?

  16. To 11:09 pm. Does that mean Caucasians should also be qualified? You had an African American with a Ph.D. compared to a male Caucasian with no degree. End affirmative action or discrimination? Chambers arrived with an MBA.

  17. 11:09 this has nothing to do with affirmative action. As much as I don't like Lore she is more qualified than the mayors new Boy Toy!

And it still should be but the DSM caved in to Homo Lobbying groups.

The bottom line is that it is a mental illness. It is a sickness.

  19. 7:53 Of course it does! What doesn't your warped victimized mind understand? I would also remind you of the quality of Ph.D. from institutions where standards have been lowered to accommodate inferior intelligence in support of affirmative action. In some instances, someone with no diploma may be more qualified and suitable for a position than someone with a Ph.D from Princess Anne which for most candidates is worthless paper because they do not have the substance and capability it says they possess.

    1. So where is your Ph.D. from wise one of superior intelligencia who knows more than accreditation boards? Just because a univetsity is a HBCU does not make it inferior and its degrees worthless. No racism here!!!!!

  21. Hopefully you will run again Joe, and this time you can hire some experts to monitor the elections so they can't use computer tricks to cheat you again.

  24. Not that what Ireton did was done in an appropriate manner, but Chambers was awful and DID NOT adequately do her job. She insisted that she be empowered with the title of "Dr. Chambers" immediately after receiving her PhD from UMES (Which is more or less the equivalent of a high school GED). Black or white, she lacked the capacity to do the job she held. The NAACP can cry racist all they want, but isn't it racist as well when a more qualified non-black candidate gets passed up for a position because a less qualified minority is forced to be hired out of guilt or fear of persecution? If I run a government office or business, I am going to do what is best for success, regardless of color. That is how it should be - Make it fair for all to EARN a position. The first corporate company that deploys 100% blind interviews will be the company that rids itself of racial accusations and moves on to unhindered success.

Yes, there still are racist individuals out there, but this isn't the 1960's folks. More often than not, I see the NAACP committing the racist acts against their counterparts with no remand. Take the Treyvon Martin case for instance. If the colors were flipped and a black man committed the exact same crime, would it have become national news? Would whites be accusing blacks of hate crimes? NO! I'm not here to say that Zimmerman was guilty or innocent because I really don't care, but the NAACP got in the way of his constitutional right to a fair trial and their threats of retribution showed the NAACP's level of inappropriate tactics. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are the KKK of their ethnicity and lack the capacity to view the world in a modern society. Coupled with a liberal government, they promote empowerment of those who do not EARN what they receive. I truly feel that our society will move on to true equality once Sharpton, Jackson and individuals of their likes are long gone.

    1. You clearly are out of touch with reality. You couldn't do even a small portion of the job Chambers did. She earned her status and should be recognized.. White Ph.D.'s are called by their proper title so why not her? It may not be the 1960's but nothing much has changed for minorities.

  26. Surprised (not really) to see the commenters on this site pulling the race card on Ireton. Probably the same people who freak out when the media plays up the racial aspect of the Zimmerman case.

Whether you like Ireton or not, Chambers was an incompetent nutcase and needed to go. Could the mayor have done it more professionally? Absolutely. But it's ridiculous to suggest her firing had anything to do with the color of her skin.

  27. anonymous 10:24 and others,

When a local developers wanted to purchase Rivers Edge and wanted to provide very similar housing, Ireton told the developer, I'm not letting Tawanda and her seven children live in a condo on the water.

I have spoken to MANY people who have heard numerous racists statements from Ireton.

The NAACP BACKED IRETON. They helped PAY FOR SHANIE SHEILDS VICTORY PARTY. They wanted Ireton...They got him. I`m glad they FINALLY GOT THEIR JUST REWARD.

I find our local chapter to be more in tune on a local level and not so much involved in national happenings. I don't recall them weighing in on the Martin/Zimmerman case though I may have missed it.
I also think they are a benefit for our area in that they hosted the candidate debates and host quite a few other events that are worthwhile to not only the black residents but to everyone.
I'm happy they weighed in on the firing of Ms Chambers. I don't think (and I may be off base) it's so much a race reason why she was fired but more a control thing. Ireton wants people around him who he can control. I've seen one and one only Sby council meeting and during that meeting Ireton in a rude and unprofessional fashion got up, proclaimed he was leaving and then ordered others to follow him out. I personally wouldn't have left and would have told him in no uncertain terms to shut up, sit down and start acting like an adult if he tried to order me to leave the meeting.
I am a bit surprised that it's just now the NAACP is showing concern over his professionalism.

  30. The NAACP is a farce.

They only care about this because it happened to a black person. If the same thing happened to a white person, they would care less.

So tell me, in this era of equality for everybody, why the NAACP should be able to have such a double standard? Wrong is wrong is wrong. Wrong is not right, except when it's wrong.

  31. I do not think that the city needs both an administrator and assistant administrator. I did not think that Ms. chambers behaved in a professional manor on many occasions. However, this discussion should really be about a disaster of a mayor who can't manage a city or a staff. He can't control his emotions or his behavior (take for instance the Mojo's instance which I have confirmed to have happened), his lies, his outbursts, his willingness to spend more time on political junkets and showmanship than serving us and the needs of our city. Jim Ireton, old friend, you had me fooled. Not any more.

    1. Chambers has been swimming upstream against all odds since she came to the city. Her work has brought recognition to the city on a national level that it never had. Unprofessional or surviving against institutional racism?

  37. Lore Chambers was a grant writer and worked at the neighborhood services office UNTIL, Barrie Tilghman promoted her from lowly grant writer to assistant city administrator. Writing grants now qualifies a person to run a city? Finding code violations now qualifies Tom Stevenson to run a city? Salisbury is in deep doo doo at least for the next 2 years.

    1. Chambers never worked in code compliance. Her entire career with the city was in the Mayor's Office assisting with day to day operations. Check your facts next time.
