Paula Deen was dropped by Wal-Mart and her name was stripped from four buffet restaurants on Wednesday, hours after she went on television and tearfully defended herself amid the mounting fallout over her admission of using a racial slur.
The story has become both a day-by-day struggle by a successful businesswoman to keep her career afloat and an object lesson on the level of tolerance and forgiveness in society for being caught making an insensitive remark.
Wal-Mart Stores Inc. said Wednesday that it ended its relationship with Deen and will not place "any new orders beyond what's already committed."
Caesars Entertainment Corp. said it had been "mutually decided" with Deen to remove her name from its restaurants in Joliet, Ill.; Tunica, Miss.; Cherokee, N.C.; and Elizabeth, Ind.

If I were her I would fire whoever advised the apology. It was stupid. Who cares if she used the precious n word only reserved for blacks. I say screw all the endorsements and just become independent. She has enough of a following.
ReplyDeleteSeems like there is no use in telling the truth anymore. Its ridiculous how far this has gone.
ReplyDeletePaula Deen's outcome for being honest and politically correct should serve as an example to others, silence is golden! She allowed her flapping lips to put her in this situation. Millions of easy bucks down the tubes. Not smart.
DeleteThis whole thing is so ridiculous it borders on insanity.
ReplyDeleteGood.
ReplyDeleteThis happened once, 30 YEARS AGO! And he was holding a gun to her head. If this is what the media is stooping to for "news", then God help us. LOL
ReplyDeletePaula just quit apologizing. You apologized, if everyone drops endorsements, so what, people will still follow you. Blacks use the "N" word all the time but it's all about prejudice when a white person does the same. Double standards again. I'm not saying it's right for any race to use the "N" word but quit the double standard stuff. Enough already.
ReplyDeleteWalmart??? Not the store that sells merchandise made overseas in sweatshops!!! What a joke!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe interview with Matt Lauer was just so terrible. He should be fired by NBC for all his smart attitudes.
ReplyDeleteThe way he treated Ann Curry and now Paula Deen.
2:58 couldn't agree with you more. Never ever watch NBC anymore since the deal with Ann Curry. Can't stand Matt Lauer.
ReplyDeleteyou have no sin in your life... (you're a liar), so cast the first stone.
ReplyDeletethis has gone way too far. the companies involved here beginning with the TV Food Network are wrong. if you get the network you should email or call them.
I don't always like her off color jokes, but all I had to do was not watch. I did enjoy watching her most of the time...
Deen made her bed, now she can sleep in it. Racist to the core....and a liar to boot.
ReplyDeleteA lady just asked me where she could buy Paula Deen cookware.I told her she better hurry before every store pulls it,but I suggested Ollies. They don't have a contractual commitment to that brand or any other.
ReplyDeleteI am so sick about the fake outrage so many are showing over this. In this day and age most white kids don't even hear or see that word until they start using the computer or go to school and then 9 out of 10 times they see or hear it for the first time ever from a black kid. When blacks stop teaching white people's children that word in not only their "music" but in written things then they and other have a right to get mad. Until the they are to be dismissed for the hypocritical fakes that they are.
ReplyDelete3:13 I'm sure your past in squeaky clean.
ReplyDeletePaula Deen admits she has used ****** in her past, let's strip her of her life. A "girl" (used loosely) can use cracker in a courthouse, and the media portrays it as a word meaning "pervert" and not it's true racist meaning.
This country has officially lost engine #1, we're going down.
As an African American woman I have to say that this is a bit ridiculous. I am not a Paul Deen fan and I'm no fan of cooking either. But what I do know is that when you work hard and you are loyal to the companies that you represent for so long, you should be able to accept some loyalty in return instead of just being thrown to the dogs. One day we will all be standing in a great deposition, I can only pray that God will have more mercy than Wal-Mart and the Food Network.
ReplyDeletefor all the folks complaining, it's called "capitalism"! If you care so much, then demand that these companies bring PD back. Believe me, someone will pick her up if you do (and probably even if you don't).
ReplyDeleteNumber 1 best selling book on Amazon is Paula Deen's cookbook.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the majority of comments made, she apologized over and over, the companies that made money with her should all be boycotted, there is no loyalty anymore. And as long as black people continue to use the n-word through their comedians and in their music on each other, it is all a double standard, do as I say but not as they all do. Jews, Mexicans and caucasions all have been subject to slander, but it is only an issue for one group, and even that is not the majority of their race. The darker blacks hate the lighter blacks and vice versa, they need to work on their own prejudices amongst themselves and then give everyone else the handbook on behavior.
ReplyDelete"ubject to slander, but it is only an issue for one group, "
ReplyDeleteDo you people just make this up as you go? Mel Gibson has been trashed for years for his anti-semitic views. You have an ongoing backlash now over that show with the hispanic maids. And there have been plenty of stories of asians speaking out over the potrayal of racial stereotypes. Another member of the "can't buy a clue" club.
In today's Society and the political left only a person of light skin can be a racist. All others are excused by the left because they consider all other races ignorant. It is a shame that many dark skin races do not see what the liberals to destroy the fabric of this Country.
