  1. Well, at least they hired one that's familiar with policing a resort community.

    Oh, wait.

  2. Though I'm sure he's well qualified I just have a real problem with hiring these outsiders who everyone knows darn well would not be here if not for the job. I would much rather have someone in these positions who has already shown an investment in the community in which they serve.

  4. Well I must say that 12:25 does not know what they are talking about! Lt. Colonel Buzzuro and his wife have owned a home in Ocean City for over seven years!

While I am at it, I should remind12:02 that Ocean City is second in size to Baltimore City when it swells during the summer season. Buzzuro's broad experience in Baltimore City undoutedly prepares him well for handling the problems associated with the large summer population.

    Think about it!

  5. 5:17- I'm not sure you know what investing in a community means as a matter of fact I'm sure you don't so here's your civic lesson for the day. Pay attention. I have several homes in other areas but that doesn't mean I've invested in that community anything other than being a property owner. Investing in a community means being involved with local nonprofits, the PTA-that sort of thing. It's means it's the place where you want to raise your children and you would be there already regardless of a job offering.
I'm sure he will do well but in my opinion someone who has invested a large portion of their life in OC would have been a better choice because it means they are committed to the community and they deserve to be rewarded for that commitment they have shown.

Yeah, so? I don't see how the size of a population relates anyway to policing a resort city and a city like Baltimore when everything else demographically is completely opposite.

"Think about it" and when you figure it out please do tell.

  7. According to Md Judiciary case search, he has been involved in only 2 criminal cases in the past 30 years. I wonder if they even checked this public record.

  8. 7:18, I believe I read he worked in the Northern District. If that's correct it's not what most people think of when they think of the City That Bleeds. It's the Homewood, Roland Park, Guilford area. Most crimes would be something along the lines of some old lady parking her Jaguar in a No Parking Zone.

  9. This is an all around great guy with a wonderful family who will get the job done. We support him 100%. Welcome to OC!

  10. Hiring an outsider for a position like this makes perfect sense. They have no community bias and generally will be a "yes" man or woman to those who hired them. It is also easier to use them as a fall guy if things happen to go wrong. Finally when the time comes to fire them there will be little public outcry because they're not from here and nobody cares about them.

  11. I think a lot of people are upset because hiring from the outside shows that those doing the hiring have no confidence in those already with the PD and the community in general has full confidence and loves the officers and want to see them progress up the ranks as many well deserve. It's not that anyone feel this choice couldn't do the job well but some feel it's a slap in the face to the hard working current officers and a crappy decision all around. I heard this sentiment over and over yesterday and none of those saying it had any connection to the PD, just average everyday residents.
