Md. Police: 10-Year-Old Girl Found Dead In Field

PORT DEPOSIT, Md. (AP) -- Maryland State Police are investigating the death of a 10-year-old Cecil County girl whose body was found in a field near her grandparents' home.

Police say troopers were called to Kami Ring's grandparents' home in Port Deposit on Monday morning after she was reported missing. Investigators were told that Ring was last seen Sunday night at the home and it had been assumed she had gone to bed.

Police say Ring's body was found Monday evening near a shed in a field about 60 yards in front of the home.

This is so sad..such a young life taken...To the Mother of my grand daughter..how dare you to allow the things that have gone on with her over the last year..this could have been her missing and dead somewhere..You have made very bad choices with the people that you have brought into your childrens lives..And you M. call your self a good Mom...Your daughter my Grand child who is just a lil girl could be the girl that is dead right now...I hope the Judge never lets you see these kids again!

  2. 11:36 PM

What did you do, if anything, to protect your grandchild?

Why are you airing your dirty laundry on here?

  4. I'm not 11:36, nor do I know who she is but I can understand her need to vent and quite possibly it could make a risk taking irresponsible "mother" change.
As far as the criticism, it's unwarranted. I've been around the "system" long enough to tell anyone it's massively broken. First of all grandparents and family members really do not have much weight in the courts because it's looked at more as a family dispute and using the child as a pawn. What we as average people see as neglect the courts don't. I could go on and on but trying to have a child removed from a biological parent (unless parent agrees and they usually don't because then they have to pay child support and welfare benefits are cut) is nearly impossible if and until the child is actually physically hurt or sexually abused. Being proactive is not something the authorities are inclined to do.

  5. Someone living in the home is in custody being held as a person of interest. The child was living with "grandparents" who aren't related but she considered them her grandparents. Poor child. Sounds like this child's life was a big mess to put it mildly.
I can only agree with the first commenter. When in the hell are these so called "mothers" going to grow up and take responsibility for their children? Of course ultimately the murderer is to blame but in reality the blame lies 100% on the backs of these useless mothers who are too damm busy doing their own thing to take care of their children. These "mothers" aren't going to learn until they are scorned and shunned by society instead of showing pity to them. They showed no pity to their murdered child by putting them in horrible situations and running around spreading their legs for every tom dick and harry. Then they have the nerve to sit there and cry when the unthinkable happens. They don't deserve pity only a spit in the face!

  6. Putting the blame on the courts, no matter how warranted, is a cop out.

If she really believed her grandchild was in danger, she should have pestered the powers that be until she got results, or locked up herself.

Then the media would have gotten involved and shed more light on this subject and possible gotten public support. Which can be very powerful stuff.

That said, I did not intend to make her feel bad or whatever negative feelings she may have felt.

In my own way I was offering motivation to her to keep up the good fight.

Sorry if I cannot express it well enough. My intentions were well meaning.
