U.S. automakers performed remarkably well in May, with Chrysler reporting an 11 percent increase in sales. But the award for most impressive statistic goes to Ford Motor Company for selling nearly 37,000 hybrid vehicles during the January-May period, an increase of roughly 375 percent from this time last year.
“We’re working tirelessly to get as many hybrids to the market as we can right now to meet this unprecedented customer demand for our electrified vehicles,” said Erich Merkle, Ford U.S. sales analyst. “The success we are experiencing with hybrids is energizing the whole company.”
Hybrid sales in 2013 have been driven by the automaker’s electrified vehicle lineup including the Ford C-MAX Hybrid, the Ford C-MAX Energi, the Ford Fusion Hybrid and the FordFusion Energi, and the Lincoln MKZ Hybrid.

I'll stick with my plain old gas car.
ReplyDeleteThe Ford Fusion has the ugliest grille I have ever seen on an automobile. It's even uglier than an Edsel! It kind of looks like a pit bull with a harelip and an overbite combined.
ReplyDeleteAlot of folks would buy them but in about 5 years they need a new battery that is thousands of dollars. Who can do that?
ReplyDeleteActually the batteries are pretty cheap.
ReplyDeleteThat's because that car looks great, goes like stink, is big enough for a family and is affordable.
ReplyDeleteThere is a reason everyone drives honda civics. The fusion will be the new civic.
Hats off to Ford and the American auto industry in general. Pretty incredible progress compared to where we were a few short years ago.
ReplyDeleteThe higher price tag is not offset with any savings on fuel economy, so there's no economic reason to buy one.
