At least in the state's where the highest paid official is a football coach, I bet his program is a profit center for the State. The same would be true for the basketball coaches in NC, KY, IN, CT and KS. So, if the priority is investing in talented individuals that bring profit and pride to the State, then I think those states are investing in the right thing.
I think the point being made is that we are the Roman Empire 2.0. Keep the masses distracted with sports and entertainment so they don't pay attention to the political corruption, corporate corruption, and fleecing of our constitution.
