Police Conduct Sobriety Checkpoint

On May 4, 2013 at 10 pm, a sobriety checkpoint was conducted through a cooperative effort between the Maryland State Police (Princess Anne, Salisbury and Berlin Barrack) the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office and the Princess Anne Police Department.
The “Checkpoint Strikeforce” sobriety checkpoint was conducted on S/B RT 13 at Eden Allen Rd Princess Anne, Somerset County, Maryland. The operation began on the above date and time. During the operation 270 vehicles were checked. There were no persons arrested for DUI but one person was arrested for possession of Marihuana. The checkpoint was manned by twelve Maryland State Troopers as well as two Somerset County Sheriff Deputies and one Princess Anne PD Officer. Additionally, a saturation patrol utilizing 5 Maryland State Troopers was conducted from 1 AM to 3AM. This effort resulted in 2 DUI arrests. There were a total number of 2 DUI arrests and 1 Possession of Marihuana apprehension for the entire operation.
