ORLANDO, Florida (Reuters) - A court hearing begins Tuesday to determine how Trayvon Martinshould be portrayed to a jury when a neighborhood watch captain goes on trial for killing the unarmed black teenager last year.
George Zimmerman, whose highly anticipated second-degree murder trial is scheduled to start June 10, has said he shot Martin in self-defense during a fight in February 2012.
At issue in Tuesday's hearing are pieces of evidence that suggest 17-year-old Martin used marijuana at an undetermined time and had been suspended from school shortly prior to his death. The defense also wants to use text messages and social media posts that Zimmerman's lawyer said would show that Martin presented himself as "street wise" and interested in guns.

Give them all of the evidence - let the jury sort it out!
ReplyDeleteI was once on a jury and asked for evidence that the defense had that we were not permitted to see.
There went that 'shadow-of-a-doubt' thing and we were not able to convict. We told 'em so afterwards - then got to see the evidence...too bad the guy had already been acquitted.
Let the jury see it all and decide!
Once again a news article uses that doctored NBC tape account rather than the actual facts.
ReplyDeleteZimmerman did exactly what the police dispatcher asked him to do. They asked him for the race of the suspect and for a description which Zimmerman tried to do. When Zimmerman went for a closer look they told him not to and he stopped.
Lying Reuters.
Trayvon already got justice. It's about time Zimmerman gets justice as well with an acquittal.
