Usually I would disagree with you and people like you. However, in this case, I do not fault the police one iota.
Only issue I would have is why he was not handcuffed in the first place. Maybe he wasn't under arrest yet and just being detained while they ran a check on him I don't know that aspect, and I suggest neither does anyone else.
It is good the cop decided to get out and check what was going on in the back seat, or we would probably have two dead cops on our hands.
The cop realized just how close he was to being shot, along with his partner. I think his actions were not only justified, they were limited, concerning the gravity of the situation.
If that were me, and no chance in hell it would be, I would have done much more harm to him. And you naysayers would have a real reason to call for my termination.
This isn't a speeding ticket situation or a pat down at an airport. This was a REAL threat. The guy seemed high on something so he probably wouldn't even remember killing the cops.
I say good job officers. And thank you.
I will be back bashing the cops tomorrow but not in this case. I give the cop a pat on the back, a gold star and buy him a cup of coffee.

ReplyDeleteThings like this happen. In fact SPD had a similar situation in their sally port some years ago. The female in that case shot and killed herself in the back seat of the police car.

They were doing the drunk ass a favor by taking him home instead of arresting him, THAT's why he wasn't cuffed in the first place.
You people are disgusting. You're worried about how he was handled after he was cuffed but don't give a damn about how he could have,(very easily), shot and killed two cops.
