Salisbury University PACE FORUM

  1. What a farce. Shanie Shields clearly had a written speech prepared well in advance . Those of you involved in giving advance knowledge of the questions--someday you will be held accountable .

  2. I'm listening and to the part where they are discussing the disclosure ordinance. I have a real problem with an elected official who would be against this. They seem to forget it is tax payers money they are spending. Why would they feel tax payers if they want to know, do not have that right? It's dishonest-period and anyone who would be against the tax payers knowing exactly where every penny is going has a serious character flaw.
Just because the state doesn't do it is no excuse.

  3. Salisbury is already a great place? What is Ireton smoking. I will drive to Berlin or Ocean City to shop just to stay OUT of Salisbury. I don't feel safe in Salisbury and I haven't in a few years. There is currently nothing to draw me to Salisbury that I can't get in a surrounding town.

  4. Finally got to the end of this. I admit I had to forward past some of it. We all know what Shanie is all about and I was not about to waste my time with all she had to say. Here is what I got out of it. There are 3 people there that want a job with power and control. There were 3 people there that seem to care about what is going on in Salisbury and how to make it better without having to raise the taxes on the already overburdened tax payers. There is a passion among Joe, Debbie and Mrs. Polk that I do not see in the others. They really want Salisbury to blossom. This is not just a paycheck for them. They want success for a town they love and live in

  5. Mr. Colburn should hang his head in shame if he still has any left in him and the Chamber members should as well. Clearly he showed his hand and his favorites. Mr. Albero and Mrs. Campbell were not given the same opportunities to speak. I feel any member of the chamber should not MC any future forum because they are not fair nor balanced in their approach.

I want someone who has experience, the factual data and knows what they are doing spending my tax dollars. Mrs. Campbell has proven herself time and again. Her opponent has what? A face book page with 20-30 year old young adults looking for a young swing leader looking for camelot.

Young voting adults need to understand no one is against progress. However it is the path to progress you must strive to understand. Ideas/goals are wonderful, but if you can't pay for them, what good have you done for the community, yourself, and your families? There has to be a way to pay for these ideas that is sustainable. Mrs. Campbell is the champion for fiscally looking for ways for success without the high cost to taxpayers by raising taxes. A vote for Day will bring higher taxes even to your age bracket. Housing suplemented by government will end up costing much more than what he promises.

While Day paints a picture you are eager to jump at I remind each of you that history repeats itself. Look at what is happening in the world around you and if you give serious thought to your vote, you will see that false promises of greatness comes at the price and compromise of values and morales.

Please tread lightly, a mistake with voting for Day will in the long run cost you dearly.

A vote for Debbie Campbell and Joe Albero is a honest, truthful, and experienced vote.

  6. Jake Day comes off as an energetic Mike Dunn.

As for the Chamber, what a dishonest bunch of crap. They don't even hide it well.

Some of you don't know this, but the Chamber is one of the big reasons this area hasn't improved business-wise.

The Daily Times wants to blame the council, but a lot of businesses look at our Chamber and say, "Really? You GOT to be KIDDING me!"

Don't ask me how I know, but I do. I'll just say traveling to other places is eye opening. My favorite place was the one that knew all about the drunken antics of Barrie Tilghman, the grand former mayor who endorsed Joke Day.

  7. Without the fiscal brilliance that Debbie Campbell has shown while on the council city residents would be paying much more for water and sewer and property taxes. MUCH more--she also uncovered the 16million surplus--the fact that this was hidden is indicative of the gross mismanagement of taxpayer funds that have been a routine part of the Barrie Tilghman run CIty and the Jim Ireton run City (basically the same thing) Now Ireton takes credit for all of the wise and prudent decisions that have come about because of Debbie Campbell. It is beyond ridiculous that ANYONE would vote for the hope and change candidate, Jake Day over a proven winner.

  8. How in the HELL did they get away with Knowing the Questions, And this Place calls itself a University? I have never seen such a SET UP in all my life, I am sure that the parents of SU are real proud.

  9. Home run joe. 2/2 strikes and your out, This just shows that the Mayor is looking to get rid of businesses so they can build there Low Income Housing, What a Fn Joke.

  10. The same way Liberals get away with everything. It's ok if they do it, just don't let anyone else do it or they cry racism or some kind of ism.

  11. Go Debbie,I would rather have Experience than some TOOL with a short haircut and a LEAD Foot.

  12. I like Ms Polk but she needs to through in the Towel, She is taking Votes Away from Jackson, DROP OUT Cynthia.

  13. I am in the same age group as Jake Day but i will not be voting for him. I will be voting for Debbie Campbell. I agree that Salisbury needs experience right now and Debbie has that and more.

  14. 7:53 you are wrong. Jackson is the one that needs to drop out of the race.

  15. Wow....those three on the end need some 5th grade english classes. Day and Ireton are conspirators. They are conspiring to upset the balance to forward a democrat agenda. Albero seems to know how to move forward. He may be a little weak on formalities but he knows how to get things done. The rest he can learn as he goes. We have to elect Albero.

  16. Listen very carefully to the exchange about "affordable" housing. Remember at the Camden forum when neither Day or Ireton could explain the difference between a subsidy and an incentive? Joe answers the question and refers to 500 nits of "affordable" housing downtown. Campbell talks about subsidized housing. Day rips Joe a new one saying that no one has said "affordable" housing except for Joe and calls it a bunch of BS, essentially. That's because they plan to use the "EDU free zone" that Ireton talks about to SUBSIDIZE the housing. Just wait and see. It will be just like the tens of millions that Dunn and previous council majorities and mayors have given to the special few. The rest of us ordinary folks are still paying. I say that keeping Campbell in office is the MOST important thing.

  17. According to an email circulating about the Coastal Association of Realtors endorsments of both Day AND Shields it clearly states "after interviewing BOTH candidates" they came to this endorsement. It does not say after interviewing all candidates. It apppears as though the other candidates (Ms Jackson, Mrs Polk and Mrs Campbell) were not even given the courtesy of an interview. If this was the case then this organization has shown extreme unprofessionalism.

  18. Ater attending the Forum on Tuesday evening, clearly Day and Ireton remind me of little Obama's and the agendas they have in mind are bad news for Salisbury.
I am hoping and praying that people get out and vote for Joe and Debbie in the district where I live. Day is a slick talker and Ireton is like a spoiled child- just what we need to lead our City??????? Joe and Debbie, on the other hand are very professional and successful business people who can make a difference for our City. Get out and Vote - Albero and Campbell are my choice!

  19. I watched as JimBeau made his grand entrance and was given the questions by that clown moderator.

  20. Someone said this above:

"the Chamber is one of the big reasons this area hasn't improved business-wise."

That's a fact, and then there's the Greater Salisbury Committee, also known as the "House of Lords".

  21. If I was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, I would cancel my membership immediately from the way the moderator handled the entire forum. He was worse than that Candy Crowley who handled the Presidential debates back in the fall.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Why does Jim Ireton keep making faces and whispering to someone in the crowd during the forum/debate? Very childish and immature!

  24. He was seeing how many of his 'friends' wanted to go to Mojo's after the meeting was over.

  25. Wish the women involved in the Mojo's incident would find the courage to speak up.
