OCFD Investigation Complete; City Council To Hear Findings Soon; Dead Cat Incident Not Part Of Inquiry

The Mayor and Council will soon hear the results of an internal inquiry involving the Ocean City Fire Department (OCFD), but the allegation of a dead cat being placed outside the fire chief’s house after a stormy promotion process last year is not part of that probe.

Ocean City Fire Chief Chris Larmore confirmed to The Dispatch on Tuesday he discovered a dead cat outside his front door back on Nov. 30, 2012. Larmore stopped short of providing more details, such as whether it was his pet or if he thinks a member of the OCFD was behind the incident. When asked if law enforcement was notified of the incident, he said he could not comment further as a result of an ongoing probe.

“It occurred. It’s part of an ongoing investigation that as of this afternoon [Tuesday] I am prohibited from speaking about because it’s tied to a much larger investigation,” Larmore said.

  1. They need to get rid of their fire chief like Salisbury needs to get rid of their acting fire chief.

  2. 1:11 why do you say that? Back up your statement dude. These 'brave' fire fighters don't seem to brave to me if they have to run to their wives to stock up for them.
    What a circus!!!

  4. Sometimes when you hear a rumor about someone sleeping together it is usually true.

Interesting how he allowed her to work from home. How does a firefighter or a captain in a fire department work from home? Sounds like favoritism to me!!

  5. Psst... OC undercover are watching the Parcel office where the women's club gets their mail from a van across the street. They aren't letting the dead cat incident go.

  6. Could it be that the chief dared to promote someone who wasn't a union supporter?
Sure sounds like this may be the case.
Why is everyone running away from the cat story? Could it be that it was union members from the FD who killed the cat and placed it on the chief's doorstep?
Could it be that new council majority is running away from the cat story because they were elected with the help of this particular union and continue to support them and God forbid the public finds out that they attempted to hide this story from the public and in essence then condoned this horrible act?
I only trust Sby News and the Ocean City Today newspaper to get to the bottom of this.

  7. EMS needs to be separate from the volunteer fire department and go back to the way it was. How can a volunteer fire chief with no experience and no education and training as a paramedic make rational decisions over an employees career. Cheap, dirty politics is the only thing I can think of.

Don't bet on it. I imagine this "rumor" came from the same group who claim to be drinking too much, yelling at their kids, seeing mental health professionals.
Maybe it's is a delusion on their part which is part of the progression those who engage in workplace violence such as mass shootings experience. I don't think whomever made the decision for the person to work from home is showing favoritism. In light of all these problems some are having it was the prudent thing to do.
These are all the classic warning signs of someone ready to "go postal." Look it up.

  9. This is getting old.....IAFF motto - work less, get paid more, intimidate on the way. Think back to when the problems began in OCFD/OCVFC. Unions have a strategy, smear, smear, smear, smear. And if that doesn't work get your wives involved for the sympathy factor. Well play 4269!!! it is in the play book.

  10. Union members are borderline cultists and are brainwashed. Thuggery is par for course with them when they think they are doing it "for the cause." Killing an animal and using it as a symbolic gesture would not be beyond their cult like thinking.

  11. I agree with 3:47. What happens when you ask EMTs to fight fire - DRAMA, examples abound.

  12. Her we go again, same three, or is it five, bashing the chief. Guess what, he's still your boss, go cry in your milk. Second thought, join your wife for another drink. Hang in there chief, this is thier effort to run you away, stand tall, and make us all proud.

Seems like the paramedics themselves need some training, 3:47 What kind of 'professional' sleeps through a call. Not only sleeps through it but union throws a fit when the chief decides a fix would be to have a watch person stay awake throughout the night so it doesn't ever happen again.

  15. I tried to warn people time and time again during the election about this "new direction" the council wanted to go in and now this is what we have. Union employees engaging in the utmost dispicable behavior and a council majority ignoring it.
That Groves guy and his group of "citzens" should be real proud of themselves backing this group.

  16. I sure hope you are right 3:31 because it is the only right thing to do. The last thing OC needs is some nutjob public safety employees running around.

  17. Thank you Joe for taking down
3:35's offensive comment. An act of possible animal cruelty should not be joked about (nor tolerated) by a civil society.

  18. According to Wic Co Parks and Recreation finanical report civic center's net revenue for 2012 was 1.2 million. Expenses were 1.6 million.

One thing I didn't realize is that perdue stadium sponges off tax payers.
