In a suspect case of policy being too broad to not be specific, the Ocean City Council this week passed a resolution adopting a new “Harassment-Free Workplace Policy,” which, while being relevant to the city’s entire workforce, was clearly directed at the ongoing tension in the Ocean City Fire Department.
The resolution to add the one-page anti-harassment policy to the employee manual was adopted by the elected body without discussion. Although he would not comment on whether the policy had been devised with the OCFD controversy in mind, City Manager David Recor said it “was aimed specifically at unacceptable and inappropriate behavior regarding protected classes and characteristics.”
“It’s an applicable policy organization-wide, which is why I asked the council to adopt it by resolution and have it included in the employee handbook,” Recor added.

It's about time we are hearing the real story and not just what the union and council with the help of that other "newspaper" wants everyone to hear. I know it's not all of the council because there are 2 left who are their own people and will not bow to special interest if they know it's not in the best interest of the town.
ReplyDeleteI don't even live in OC and I can see what's going on. The voters have gotten to be as dumb as a pile of rocks over there. Happening everywhere though because everyone anymore is of the entitlement mindset.
Yeah! THere's no way us bus drivers could find jobs over $30/hr without this kind of support.
ReplyDeleteBus drivers make $30 an hour in Ocean City 8:25? Damm-I don't even need a job but would work a few hours a week doing that for some extra spending money.
ReplyDeleteThe truth comes out. The council, or least majority made promises to the union, and got busted! Guess they didnt plan on someone standing up to them. It's not over with this council, they have just started. Groves, trash in trash out.
ReplyDeleteGuess the unions public information officer missed this, otherwise the bashing would have begun. Come on guys, lets hear about the chief not being trained, and the rest of your trash. He made you stay up when you missed calls, insists you work during the season, promotes a candidate you didn't endorse etc. etc. etc. This is another victory, maybe small, for the citizens that need to run the unions out of town! As far as the promotion, god bless the candidate, her fight has just started, Keep pushing for what you know is right, it always is. Hoppes would never have the stones to go down this path, oh, wait a minute, neither would Liarton.
ReplyDeleteLooks like the "hens club" has egg all over thier face! Ladies, go back under the rock you poked your tired old faces out of. The chief still stands, his promotion of the best candidate is upheld, and your husbands have to work for a living. Better idea, have your husbands retire like they should have years ago, they just cry and moan at work, mostly about thier home life, then return to you and cry about work. Same story, differant day.
ReplyDelete"But several sources privy to the council proceedings claim that Larmore’s stance was flatly refused, with one council member telling the chief, “That’s not going to happen. You’re going to promote [the male candidate].”
ReplyDeleteAnyone happen to know the names of those council members who wanted to deny this seemingly well qualified candidate a chance at promotion? And what were their reasons (really excuse because anyone following can clearly see the real reason) stated for the attempt at halting this promotion?
8:09 Slymeck ! Everyone knows he promised the union the stars. They waved flags for him at the polls, and he's an honorary member of the FOP. He's the worst bottom feeder there ever was. Only reason he ever got elected was the ticket he ran on. NO-ONE has one bit of respect for him, NO-ONE! Other than him, seems mums the word, but not hard to figure out. One union president leaked the conversation the day after it happened.
