Enrollment in the food stamp program — officially the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program — has soared by 70 percent in the years since President Obama first took office, a new report finds.
The government said the recession ended in 2009, The Wall Street Journal reports, but enrollment in the food stamp program didn’t wane, as would be expected in an improving economy. Since 2008, it’s been on a steady rise, The Journal reports.
A record 47.8 million people participate in the program, as of December 2012 — a figure that translates into a 70 percent rise since 2008, The Journal says. Why?

Why? I'll tell you why. It's because obama is the biggest suck up to big banks and business that there ever was. This food stamp expansion program was orchastrated by none other than the big banks who fare dearly everytime one of the cards are swiped. Walmart the largest grocery chain in the country lobbied for this expansion which not only benefits them with more sales but also benefits more of their low wage earning employees. Other large food manufacturing corps lobbied for this expansion also.
ReplyDeleteSo you dumb democrat voters keep on falling for "it's the republicans who are in bed with big business" and the whole while the big banks are laughing you and generating their billion dollar goverment contracts from the card swipes-billions of dollars better spent going directly to neighborhoods effected by poverty.
What can you say about a segment of the population who trade any possibility of becoming successful financially and socially by accepting their fate of FOREVER only earning 18,000 or so a year. FOR LIFE. Yes they never have to punch a clock or get up of the couch, but they forever lock themselves into permanent poverty. It has taken 60 years to breed this mindset and god only knows what it will take to reverse it.
ReplyDeleteMore democrat slaves. So sad to see this. Some people will never wake up.
ReplyDeleteSalisbury Md 23677 people on foodstamps, keep up the great work Salisbury.
ReplyDeletebecause obama was smart. He advertised in Mexico for low income immigrants to get on food stamps. He bought the latino vote and we are all now paying the price for that..Soon the number of people on food stamps will out number us who actually work.
ReplyDelete1:49--I think they actually do outnumber us now.
ReplyDeletei LOVE how all the hands reaching up are black great job great post :)
ReplyDeleteI can't remember exactly the amount these bank contracts are that handle the card transactions but it's in the billions.
ReplyDeleteThese billions alone given either directly to some of those who use these entitlements or to the communities would go a long way in helping to restore the economy and help those wanting to get out of poverty. The democrats won't admit this though because it's their buddies at the banks they are more concerned with.
