Yesterday Salisbury mayoral candidate Joe Albero issued a press release claiming that the Daily Times was planning an “October surprise” for Sunday’s edition. It appears that the article ran this morning. For the informed voter, little new information was published; but begs us to ask the leadership of the paper – Where’s the beef?
DT reporter Cox obviously devoted much time to researching about the two mayoral candidates personal lives. So what?
Imagine the service the Daily Times could have done for voters and the city it CLAIMS to love if the same amount of time had been dedicated examining Albero’s plan to revitalize the local economy or council candidate Jake Day’s plan for the city. Sadly, the DT doesn’t want informed voters. The great unwashed asking too many questions would spoil their narrative.
Albero asks the right question:
Who cares that Jake Day has a heavy foot, or that our three District 1 candidates have met with personal financial misfortune, or that both my opponent and I have had some minor brushes with the legal system? Why does the Daily Times think that these things take precedence over my plan to bring jobs to Salisbury, Jim Ireton’s repeated attempts to raise our taxes, or Jake Day’s plan to use our tax dollars to subsidize residential development in the city?
We may be wrong. Maybe voters do care more about trivia and less about creating jobs or improving the city. … At least that’s what the Daily Times hopes.
Ireton is the same sort of socialist and agitator as his idol Obammy. Both use distortion and outright lies to con the public. We could not stop one but we can stop the other next week.
ReplyDeleteThe online version is incredible -- a posed professional photo of JimBeau, none of Joe!
ReplyDeleteThat article is a disgrace. There is nothing in it of any real relevance to the election.
ReplyDeleteOf course true to their bias, they take a pretty good swipe at Joe in the very beginning of the article.
Correction -- there is a pic of Joe down in the article -- below that of JimBeau.
ReplyDeleteJake Day will be the WORST candiate to place on the council.God bless the voters if that occurs.THE DREAM TEAM would look like angels.
ReplyDeleteThe Daily Times loves Salisbury like a hooker loves her johns.
ReplyDeleteIf the judges sided w/ Albero, why was it brought up???
ReplyDeleteAs far as a hit piece, this is the answer to Joe and his supporters prayers! Just as silly as their Ireton endorsement.
LOVED the quote about the boardwalk incident! Tells you what a stand-up guy Ireton is.

ReplyDeleteArticle is out. In it Albero comes across as being a rags to riches success story. On the other hand Ireton and Day appear as immature above the law types. JT pushed Cox for this and it's backfired. Good for Cox as he and all of us have gotten the last laugh and JT continues to look the foolish person that he is.

Excellant article & very good reporting.
ReplyDeleteWow. I didn't know about the Ireton running from the police story. No wonder Day would like to "partner" with him. They both think laws don't apply to them.
ReplyDeleteWell I care that Debbie Campbell's opponent had nothing but excuses about his EXCESSIVE tickets. It shows a lack of self control and an attitude that places his personal importance above the law. They also failed to mention that if you take time to click and read the cases that there was also driving on a suspended license and failure to appear. No wonder he believes in letting the rental industry regulate itself. How did that work for Salisbury in the past?
ReplyDeleteDTs = Poor Subrcription/Hits, The editor should be FINED for all the littering he does in this town with his toilet paper of a Paper.
ReplyDeleteThat year saw perhaps his most embarrassing moment. After 3 a.m. one August morning, a Rehoboth Beach police officer approached Ireton and another man and the two fled. Ireton stopped at the boardwalk, where the officer contacted him.
ReplyDelete"Ireton declined to comment on the matter this week, but told The Daily Times in 2009 that he ran in an effort to stop the other person so he wouldn’t be the only one left to face an officer.
Ireton received a municipal infraction for disturbing the peace."
We all know what Jim Ireton was doing on the beach with another man in that well known town in Delaware. The major problem I have with this is Jim Ireton lied then and he is lying now. If he lies and deceives about his personal life you know he has been lying and deceiving us personally as our city executive representative. He is extremely disgusting.
Vote Albero, Campbell and Polk on April 2, 2013!
I have to say Joe, that is a great picture of you! Shows what a real man in office would look like!
ReplyDeleteIs Jeremy Cox related to Neda Cox or Wesley Cox????--both are Realtors on the Board of CAR--the ones that just spent a fortune an mailers in the city. Just wondering--seems like alot of people named Cox in bed with Jim Ireton and Jake Day.
ReplyDeleteHow does the Daily Times stay open? Every gas station I go to, they're stocked all day. They throw their paper in front of my house 3-4 times per week. It burns good, so it doesn't bother me, just don't see how they function.
ReplyDeleteHere's a great comment copied from the DT's article by a young Sby native. I hope he doesn't mind but I found it so wise that's it's worth posting here.
ReplyDelete"Heaven help the people of Salisbury if we keep the forwardly backward thinking, non business experienced Jim Ireton... Salisbury right now is the smaller version of Chicago. Without the help of a successful businessman, Salisbury will continue to fall further into economic shambles. This article on the daily times is a joke. Attacking other people is up to blogs prior to the weekend before election. You are a newspaper! Write about specific plans that each candidate has for Salisbury! Ever heard that quote: 'SMALL minds discuss people, average minds discuss events, great minds discuss ideas!' Typical Salisbury"
The article alse saw a regurgitation of BB from the Pocomoke now defunct blog. Just what everyone should do. Take any advice from this person who saw multiple foreclosures. Not to mention when they lived in Pocomoke if anyone didn't know better would have thought their homes were owned by slumlords. Now they are out BSing their way throughout CA.

ReplyDeleteYou think that is wise?! You must have wrote it yourself. If you think Salisbury is a small version of chitcago, you have never been there. Salisbury is a day camp compared to Chicago. But I understand, small minds and all.

If you cared about Debbie you would stop with these frivolous complaints against her opponent. You look like a fool and make Debbie look bad by association with you inane comments. Getting a ticket is like having a DUI on your record. Just about EVERYONE has one. Except you of course. Give it a rest dude, nobody cares.
Well I care that Debbie Campbell's opponent had nothing but excuses about his EXCESSIVE tickets.
ReplyDeleteYes, we know. Trouble is, YOU'RE the only ONE who cares. It doesn't seem the court or dmv cares a whole lot. Or maybe there isn't anything to care about. Hmm.
