    PBS had a good show about Cumberland, MD on this weekend, it was interesting to see them revitalizing their town with the same things Salisbury is trying to do, but they are being successful at it.

    Looks like an inviting town, can't say the same for Salisbury (at the moment).

    Did they have to give away the farm and rape and pillage the taxpayers to revitalize, or did they do it the old fashioned way of working for it?

    9:51-That was a great show.The last time I was through Cumberland I did'nt see any retail on the outskirts.That gives it a clear advantage over SBY.

    Municipalities have a tendency to do bring about their own demise. With all the pressure on Ocean CIty from the Maryland taxes (9% booze, 7% sales, room, and now probably more and higher parking fees). The little town of Fenwick Island is having somewhat of a resurgence. Liquor sales are up and the outlet has expanded. There's a new Mexican Restaurant and Tiki Bar being build on Route 54, and a Fells Point based business (Ropewalk) relocating into the old Capt Pete's. Free parking and all tax free. I wonder if the OC buses will extend their route to this tiny little town.

    But as soon as a Wal Mart goes up in the Atlantic Ocean just east of Fenwick it too will fail.
