In Ireton's December letter to the Maryland Attorney General, Jim Ireton said;
“I am not yet ready to make a permanent appointment to the Fire Chief’s position...”
On the same day that letter was sent, this appeared in an article in the Daily Times: “I have the fire chief I want,” Ireton said the other day.
SURVEY QUESTION: Do you think Jim Ireton lied to the Maryland Attorney General?
It seems apparent he did! Albero supporters better get out and tell the truth of Ireton's incompetence to those who will get out and vote but don't have computers or don't look at the blogs. Many out there don't know the truth and won't see it in the local newspaper.
ReplyDeleteOf course I think he lied , Ireton belongs in a mental institution. His juvenile behavior has been the thorn in his side.
ReplyDeleteI believe his telling untruths or lies goes back when he was still in the closet about his being gay.
This has affected his decision making in all areas and we certainly don't want children running the city again.
His behavior goes back to his childhood , I feel sorry for him sometimes , maybe he needs a good cry.
Anyway ,after the election , I do whish him well , hope he can find a job.
I have found that this is typical behavior of gays in the political field.
The best way to describe it is "thowing a tantrum."
If he has more than one decision to make it becomes overwhelming and this is his release.
He then acts as though nothing has happened.
A good example is the telephone call to Mr. Albero .
My goodness people , get this man out of office , another 4 years of nothing is not what you need.
I think that people expect politicians to lie , they promise the world and deliver nothing but an excuse. Most political figures are not needed anyway. They present themselves as leaders by voice tone , antics of all sorts and when they don't have an answer , they avoid the question completely.
ReplyDeleteThey lie , they cheat , they steal and the very worse thing , they confuse the public with complex issues , that mean nothing.
The very best example is Hillary Clinton and her husband , what marriage (made in heaven?).
I think he's a liar.
ReplyDeleteI grew up thinking that most people tell the truth as I was taught to do.
In this day and age , I believe it is the opposite.
Watch out for everyone , it's a shame but the truth.
Cashiers will cheat you , car dealers will over charge you , insurance people will cheat you , the police will not admitt they made a mistake at your expense , the banks will over charge you and on and on , it's an accepted way of life .
The sad part about it , people have gotten so used to it , that they feel it's OK.
Mmmm I think we have lost religion , which in turn have caused us to lose our morals and values.
My religion is my my guide for life , the bible is the answer.
I'm not sure if he is lying. Maybe we're just taking his words "out of context?" Isn't this the excuse countless politicians use when they get caught red handed?
ReplyDeleteHe may not have lied to the Attorney General, but I would like to know why he kept the AG's response a secret from the Council. Isn't this a serious legal mess?
ReplyDeleteDid you expect something different from someone who has zero moral value's?
ReplyDeleteOf course he lied. He's a liberal, isn't he?
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone remember Congressman Bob Bauman? He is gay, got caught, lied and cheated. Reminds me of the direction Ireton is heading.
ReplyDeleteJimbeau didn't want Hoppes 2 years ago so what makes him want Hoppes now? Silly me all Jimbeau wants to do is start a fight with the council majority. Do we want 4 more years of that? Hell no we had 16 years of it and we are sick and tired of a dysfunctional city. Vote Albero and Campbell for the good of the city.
ReplyDeleteAfter Jim's actions in the ladies room of Mojo's why is Jim Ireton still employed by the BOE teaching our children. Doesn't the BOE have standards? Hasn't anyone made a complaint to the BOE so they can investigate this poor decision and bad behavior. What goes on in a school teachers life outside a class room should affect their position teaching children. I don't want that pervert in the same building as my children. I know employees of the school board read this blog so hopefully someone will find out the truth and expose Jim Ireton. Someone needs to bring charges against him.
ReplyDeleteOf course he lied Barack Hussein Liarton thinks he is above the law!
ReplyDeleteLooking at this, I would have to say yes, he lied to the attorney general.
ReplyDeleteWhich means he lied to the council and pulled a fast one even after they said no to his choice.
Ireton said help was on the way. From where I sit, it looks more like he meant HELL was on the way. Maybe his slogan was just a typo.
Maybe the DT story was referring to the Mayor's personal love life? If so, he may not be lying.
ReplyDeleteI remember saying I would love to see Barry Parsons Tilghman being escorted out of the Government Office Building in handcuffs. Guess what now I would love to see Jim Ireton being escorted out of the Government Office Building in handcuffs. I will take seeing him escorted out of the BOE in cuffs.
ReplyDeleteNo. He wants the one he has(acting); however, the Council won't approve it.
ReplyDeleteI vote to give the Chief and his Assistant a raise for having to put up with this crap for over a year. If the Chief and his Assistant had acted as childish as the ones who run our city they would just have walked out the door. But their choice has been to meet their obligations.
If the Council voted against Hoppes to be the permanent fire chief, why did they approve his appointment as acting fire chief? Perhaps an amendment should be added to the city charter that after six months an acting department head appointment should automatically become the permanent head when the decision cannot be made between the scrabbling mayor and council.
Could he not have had someone in mind when he wrote the letter to the times, but possibly not sure enough to make a permanent appointment? I never knew that a mayor had to be 100% open to the press. 2 sides to every coin, just sayin.

I bet your vote doesn't matter because you are not a city resident. This is the best city council majority we have seen in over 16 years. You must be associated in some way with "Chief and his assistant."
I say vote for Albero and Campbell only during this next election.
Try again.
ReplyDeleteThe two statements are not necessarily contradictory. Maybe what he wants is an interim, weak fire chief and a department in leadership disarray so that he can play is Obama-esque political games with the council (though he comes unarmed to a battle of wits).
If so, then claiming that he is not ready to make a "permanent" appointment is probably true.
Also, I would not discount the possibility that the Daily Times reporter misquoted him, either.
Of course, none of this should be construed as defending the two-pump chump. I would personally like to see him tied up in a straight jacked and dunked in the river like a pudding pop!

LMBO. I just got it.
This mess is why local elections have become so important. Maryland has created a single party with a single agenda that extends a single National agenda all the way down to the municipalities. The people in office don't even think about what they vote or promote as long as it is the National platform. They are unstoppable until stopped and the time to start stopping them starts with the Mayoral election in Salisbury. The County should be next followed by the State, and finally Washington. There's been a loss of total control in Salisbury due to some incumbents and the liberals have come out of the woodwork whose only objective is to remove the resistance. They aren't interested in the city or the people in it. They are only interested in lining their pockets with YOUR money.
ReplyDeleteIt isn't the city council's fault that Hoppes does not meet the minimum requirements for the position. It is, what it is!
ReplyDelete"So does the city have a fire chief right now? Yes, Hoppes appears to be working, just as he has since assuming his post a year ago. It appears he will be paid, despite the two missing signatures."
ReplyDeleteSo is Hoppes the acting chief or not? Is he getting paid the salary of a fire chief? If he still is can that be legal? Ireton has really created a fight with the city council and this is not who I want to be my mayor.
The city charter (the rules of law passed down by the state to run the city) calls for a fully-qualified (as described by personnel manual) fire chief. The council cannot legally approve a less than qualified candidate.
ReplyDeleteIn the absence of a fully-qualified chief, according to charter, there must be an acting chief, who may not be fully-qualified.
The mayor has not formally (as would be required) put Hoppes' name up again for consideration as a fully-qualified chief, only to extend him (again) as acting chief.
Yes, he lied to the AG and withheld information (yet again) from the council and the people.
ReplyDeleteStupid and immature...this crap is why you will lose..even though you should win..you have my vote but u need to keep this childish stuff out
ReplyDeleteWho is Sara that is handing out flyers for Jacob Day?
ReplyDeletelooks like he lied again.
ReplyDeleteI have heard the acting chief has a history EEOC issues.
ReplyDeleteThe Sara handing out flyers for Jake Day was Laura Mitchell's campaign manager. I remember her well from when I fooled into voting for Mitchell (which won't happen again).
ReplyDeleteAny denial by Day at this point that he is not connected at the hip to Ireton could be considered a lie.
IRETON -its time for you to put your high heels back on and head up to Rehoboth to hang out. You have done "nothing" to help our once wonderful city head to progression and instead I have seen lots of business closures taking place - one for example just recently Aqua restaurant and several small business who got tired of the unfriendly way you look at things.
ReplyDeleteYou look awful "flustered" during your interview with Joe - not professional at all in my opinion.
Joe February 2, 2013 at 2:01 PM has a big gap before the next comment. Is there any way to delete the space where the gap starts and ends. It looked like that was the end of the comments.
ReplyDelete11:24, no thanks to department heads by default. That is exactly what Ireton has pulled with Hoppes.
ReplyDeleteI am not the sharpest tool in the shed, but I have finally figured out that Hoppes did NOT have the qualifications to be fire chief when Ireton moved him forward to the council. I think it had to do with a degree or something.
That was the mayor's first screw up.
Then I heard Hoppes now has the qualifications. But the mayor didn't send him back.
That was the mayor's second screw up.
But it also tells me that maybe the council didn't settle on him because of something besides his qualifications.
As for why the council renewed him as acting chief, my guess is because that's the name the mayor gave them at the last minute. Just because someone can keep the doors open on a shop doesn't mean they should be the president of the company.

I thought that is exactly who she was. Proof positive that Jake Day was hand picked by Jim Liarton to run against Debbie Campbell. If Day gets elected that will be the Rubber Stamp council majority that Ireton needs to give this city away to the slum lords and his friends. Everyone should make sure they vote for Albero and Campbell.
If you have time please volunteer to work for their campaigns. During the Primary Debbie Campbell needs all the help she can get.
5:11 PM coincidently Jim Ireton "Likes" Jake Day's Facebook campaign page.
ReplyDeleteWhat is an EEOC issue?
ReplyDelete"coincidently Jim Ireton "Likes" Jake Day's Facebook campaign page." No coincidence! It's part of the PLAYBOOK!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYes he did and despite an honest plea of stupidity he is still a liar
ReplyDeleteAs usual, the whole story is not being told. It does not matter who ends up as fire dhief, it is more to it than that.
ReplyDeleteThere needs to be a promotional process take place. In the past, the position has been advertised in trade magazines, (Fire Engineering, Firehouse, etc.) and locally. Then there needs to be a cutoff date for applications and a review board assembled to interview the candidates. This process is no different for other city department head positions like police chief and public works director. In the F.D. there is a process for LT, Capt. A/C Chief etc., this should be no different. If this process is not followed, then it will diminish all past and future promotions. Also, Hoppes wanted years ago for college to be a requirement to be promoted, how has that worked out for him????
Acting Chief Hoppes does meet all the requirements to be Chief. He got his degree. We do nt want another outside Chief.

I heard it was a fake degree.
Jim's behavior is simply a manifestation of the political philosophy that permeates the liberal mindset. He cannot help himself.

Just because you don't want another outsider doesn't make your guy qualified for the position. How do you know he got his degree? How do you know that is all he was lacking? What are his work ethics? What is his work history? What other qualifications are required for the position?
I think he lied, but here is how a person like Ireton would explain it...
ReplyDelete"I am not yet ready to make a permanent appointment to the fire chief's position, but I will leave out telling you it's because this guy got turned down and I want to push this into the election cycle and hope that with the firefighters help in defeating Debbie Campbell I will get the rubber stamp council I want and then I will reward the firefighters by appointing this guy."
A lie by omission to the council, a lie by omission to the attorney general, a lie by omission is still a lie.
To you firefighters posting on here, I didn't get to pick my boss at the company I worked at, so why do you think you should get to pick yours?
The council had a right to use their best judgment and say no. They were elected to do that job.
For you to condone what Ireton has done to get your man in reflects very badly on you.
If he is so qualified for the position of fire chief in the city of Salisbury does that mean he is qualified to get hired as a fire chief in another paid fire department?
ReplyDeleteSara used to be a liberal lobbyist for an environmentalist group. She's also worked for Jim Mathias and now she is a "community organizer" for a union. She's almost as communist as Chuck Cook.
ReplyDeleteDoes this mean Hoppes won't be getting his new Ford Explorer to take home?
ReplyDeleteSo, I think that I am hearing that Jake Day and Laura Mitchell's political alliances are connected?
ReplyDelete10:40 Ireton, Mitchell and Cook thought you were too stupid to figure it out. That's how this whole city is run! They think this is high school student government. They're playing with people's lives and are too delusional to understand the impact.
ReplyDeleteJoe
ReplyDeleteJim told Salisbury firefighters numerous times Hoppes was his pick as chief. His plan is simple to achieve this goal just wait till the council changes to slide Hoppes into position. Rightfully so Hoppes is deserving of the job. Hoppes is a good man and a man of his word unlike chief See & Gordy. Hoppes is a family church going man who will not stab you in the back or lie to your face like his predecessors. In addition See & Gordy exercised wasteful spending which Hoppes was truly not a part of. In a nut shell Hoppes was guilt by association being part of corrupt administration. So did Jim lie? Absolutely very much so.

Interesting. When Ireton was running for election the first time and up until last year Ireton told Salisbury firefighters numerous times that Hoppes was not his pick. Hence, he was denied an opportunity twice and the guy from Virginia was brought in. You say Hoppes is a man of his word, but obviously you aren't. The facts speak for themselves.
8:06 AM you say Hoppes isn't a back stabber? Ask the firefighter and the paramedic he got fired the first time he was the "acting chief." The church going family man caused those 2 individuals to file bankruptcy and caused them to lose everything. Looks like you go to the wrong church.
ReplyDelete8:06's comment explains why the mayor attempted to keep the AG's opinion a secret. He was maybe hoping no one would find out about it until after the election-the election he is hoping results in a new majority.
ReplyDeleteI don't really know his motives but this speaks volumes of the candidates honesty who are aligning themselves with someone who would attempt to hide important city business from the council. It seems they themselves have some serious character flaws going on.
Whether one like Hoppes or not and support him as permanent chief or not it is pretty crappy that the mayor has put him in the middle of this by not turning this info over to the council immediately.
ReplyDeleteThis should stay at the top for a while longer.
ReplyDelete8:06, that's not what the us folks out here in TV land have seen. Hoppes pushed hard for that fireboat toy and said it wouldn't cost taxpayers anything but maintenance but it did have other costs. Hoppes darn near cost the taxpayers $400,000 in that grant blooper and let his underlings eat crow for it.
ReplyDeleteWatch the meetings on PAC14 like I do. Read Joe's site. You'll never get the truth from the Daily Slime.
As for Ireton, guess he thought he was being slick. Sleazy politician through and through in my opinion.
" In the F.D. there is a process for LT, Capt. A/C Chief etc., this should be no different. If this process is not followed, then it will diminish all past and future promotions."
ReplyDelete7:04PM if the process was so perfect then why didn't the acting chief follow the process through his career. I have been reading this site long enough to remember seeing numerous times about you firefighters complaining that Hoppes never sat through a promotional process. You also complained about how lazy he was. So which is it?
Notice how Jim is an expert at walking the fine line between lying and telling the truth.A kinda sorta lie can be easily tweeked to appear as the truth. For example,a ponzi scheme can easily pass as legit until extreme circumstances expose it.Of course he lied, but it's a real real close call.

Hoppes would turn on his mother to get the Chiefs job. Don't give him any pity. The proof is the fact that he didn't get it the first time. DUH!!
Joe could you do something to get the word out that the city council is doing the right thing in not confirming Mr. Hoppes for the position of Fire Chief. There is a reason they have not confirmed him. There is a reason Mayor Ireton didn't not want him on 3 previous searches. There is a reason his own colleagues voted for someone else over him. He should feel honored that the city council graciously accepted him as the acting fire chief while Mr. Ireton was supposed to submit another candidate. Mr. Hoppes wasn't and isn't qualified to be the fire chief. Mr. Hoppes has a history with personnel issues. Mr. Hoppes has personal issues and has attacked the lady council members in the past and even up to this day. Mr. Hoppes has issues with over spending tax dollars on unneeded equipment and apparatus. ie. The fire boat, the haz mat trailer, the air light truck, the new brush truck, the foam trailer, the million dollar ladder truck, the temporary grant he screwed up on. This individual has ruined the Salisbury Fire Department for many years to come. The constituents of this city should thank the Council Members for doing their homework and doing what is best for the citizens. Just because some of the firemen doesn't want another "outsider" isn't a good enough reason to confirm Mr. Hoppes. Guess what fireman you don't get to pick your own boss.
ReplyDeleteIf Ireton had half a brain and wanted to salvage his election he would drop the Hoppes fight and submit another name. As a voting tax payer I don't want to vote for a dysfunctional Mayor that is constantly fighting with the City Council members. My family, friends and I will be voting for Joe Albero this election. Sorry Jim, you blew your chance with the fire department fiasco.
ReplyDeleteIreton's position as Mayor is TOAST. He recruited Jake Day to run against Debbie Campbell so he can control the majority of the city council members. Jim, did you forget that you snuck in as Mayor on Debbie's coattail? Did you forget that Debbie Campbell received more votes in District 2 than you did city wide? These same voters will stand by Debbie and vote you out of office. You really screwed up picking a fight with the city council over Hoppes this close to your re-election attempt. Vote Campbell and Albero!!
ReplyDeleteMark my words, the fire chief issue will NOT be resolved until the Mayor is voted out of office -- that is forth coming. We, the firefighters of Salisbury, only hope that the NEW mayor brings back some of the past candidates -- they were quite good and impressive!
ReplyDelete
