Today's Survey Question

Do you believe Wicomico County is doing everything it can to keep our children safe?

21 comments:

  1. It is not the job of Wicomico County, or any other government, to keep our children safe.

  2. Government can NEVER replace a mother and a father.

  3. It's not 11:02? Public schools are government owned and run so it is the duty of the governments to keep the occupants as safe as possible while in the confines the government's property.
Don't you expect reasonable safety measures taken when you enter a government owned building?

  4. 11:02 - don't ask them that.....they'll tell you just the opposite...and that they need more money and to take your guns to do it!

  5. Safe from what? The question is too vague. Ask the Health dept what the number one injury is to our kids, then ask what the county is doing about it.

  6. You don't think it's the governments job to make sure the buses children ride to school in don't have broken windows and wheels ready to fall off 11:02?

  7. It is a Government school. Yes they need to keep our students safe.! We even have schools who will not allow cupcakes/candies etc. to be brought to school. A looney would think it great to see the third grade wiped out. Doors are locked so not just everyone can walk thru the school.
You can't close all the loopholes but we can sure try.

  8. Explain the question better. Are you talking about the school system? I agree with 11:02 AM

Safe is safe. It's not vague at all. The primary role of goverments is to protect it's citizens. The concept has gotten out of control and some feel this includes things like protecting us from what we shouldn't eat and drink, laws requiring seat belts, etc. The intent was to protect us from things out of our control.
If we are talking about school safety in govenment owned schools than yes, they do have a duty to ensure the safety of the children.

  11. It doesn't 11:41 but whether it mentions schools or not isn't a factor. The question is "do you believe Wic Co is doing everything it can to keep our children safe?" and the answer is no. The biggest responsiblity they have toward children is to keep them safe while in school and they fall short on this. They claim they are doing everything to keep children safe by not allowing candy brought into schools as 11:30 says or some even don't allow homemade snacks for a party all in the name of protecting children but when it comes to breaches in school security which could allow those intent on harm in the schools they fail.

  12. The ongoing threats to students and staff are enrolled in our schools in the form of young people who intimidate and attack their peers and show no respect to adults. Millions of dollars are spent on programs for them with little or no positive result. It's fine to focus on outsiders barging in, and that could certainly happen, but the constant threats to safety from within need to be addressed more vigorously. Schools can be safe or politically correct but not both.

  13. Walking the police beat like the old days.

    ReplyDelete
  14. no because they only have police resource officers in certain schools should be in all.

  15. I believe 1:35 pm makes a valid point. Bullying is just as much a danger as the "bandwagon" on guns.

The Wicomico County Board of Education is a totally different governing body than the Wicomico County government. Please know what you are talking about before running your mouth.

As noted before the question says absolutely nothing about Wicomico County Schools.

  17. agree with 11:02 too

  18. If a basic morals class would be taught, it would go a looooong way to make every kid safer in or out of school!

  19. Absolutely not. But the people of wi-comical county refuse to support or pay for education. You get what you pay for.

Respect can be free, teachers get virtually no respect from the people of wi-comical county either.

No respect, plus not willing to pay for it = what you have today.

  20. For Gods sake , let the children live and make decisions. Make them earn their right to do things.
We have a few generations of spoiled bratts.
    Safe?
If you want your children safe , move to Texas.
