ARMED 86-YEAR-OLD WOMAN TAKES A STAND AGAINST BURGLAR: ‘IF I EVER CATCH ‘EM, I MEAN TO KILL ‘EM’

A burglar got more of a fight than she expected after a super tough 86-year-old would-be victim confronted her with a handgun. Though she was unable to hit the home intruder with the one shot she fired, the elderly woman engaged in a struggle with the burglar and refused to let go of her gun.

“I told different people, if I ever catch ‘em, I mean to kill ‘em,” Louise Howard told WCYB-TV. In other words, the burglar should be thankful she’s still alive.

The incident occurred on Friday afternoon and Howard was forced to defend her home and her life from a female burglar who broke the glass on her door with a wrench and forced her way into her Tennessee home.

  1. If she would have shot the intruder, she would be charged with a crime , we are not allowed to defend ourselves with a firearm in this country.
Then the intrudr could sue her for everything she has , if the intruder dies , then her family could sue her.
    Thank you Trayvon Martin!!

  3. I thought the law was----IF they are invading your home --- Are In There-- & you shoot them---no libality-----
If you shoot them Outside the home, they you'd be charged.

Tell you what----If I Know someone is breaking into my home---wouldn't give them the opportunity to come in--- I'd shoot them ===then drag them inside!!
Does anybody know for sure what the law is on this. This is what I've always heard here in MD.

  4. 6:25 Sorry you are not correct on this one. Once the intruder is in your home you have every legal right to protect yourself, family and possessions. It would be up to the States Attorney to bring the charges upon you, and I believe that our local SA would not do that.

  5. You only have to be a victim of a crime once to know that the person who is coming into your home means business. I had heard the law states in MD that you must retreat to the back of your home and wait for the intruder to come after you before you can take action with a gun. I'm not certain. BUT I do know that if I were in the situation again, I would do what ever it took to protect myself and my family because the person who is coming in INTENDS to do you harm and it could mean killing you.

  6. My grandfather (a justice of the peace in the 30's) always told us to make sure the BODY was at least halfway into the doorway facing into the house... Laws have probably changed, but it makes sense...

  7. The burglar should have at least had the decency to let her put her glasses on before she shot at him.

  8. Once they shoot my dogs to get to my family they are done meat. Because of the increase in ammo prices, there will be no warning shots.

  10. I had a situation where my 15 year old daughter told me she did not have a boyfriend, and 2 days later I heard a sexual event taking place in her bedroom. I confronted the situation with my 12 gauge, and the perp attacked me and tried to grab mu gun. He wound up with a buttstock injury to his face, and I made him go the the bathroom to bleed out so he wouldn't stain the carpeting while we called 911.
Cops arrived, and since I did not have "No Trespassing" signs posted, and she had invited the 19 year old in, I could have been charged with assault any time in the next year by the perp. My gun was confiscated for that year, and then it took 6 months to get it back.

Seems like in Maryland, if the home invaders aren't pointing guns at you, you may not have any right to shoot them!

Get your tacky redneck "No Trespassing signs up first, though, or you will be charged with shooting a "Guest".

These are the most ignorant laws, but you need to be aware to CYA. Without a no trespassing sign, you are inviting crime somehow....
