ANNAPOLIS, MD – Governor Martin O’Malley released this statement following Ray Lewis’ announcement that he will retire at the end of this season:
“Ray Lewis is an outstanding football player who exhibits passion and leadership both on and off the field. His commitment to football has made him worthy of a place in the Hall of Fame, and his dedication to the City of Baltimore and incredible community spirit has made him a man of dignity, respect and character.
“We will always be grateful for his love of the people of Baltimore and fans everywhere. He has given football fans of all ages hope and inspired us all to reach beyond our dreams. Though we will miss him on the field, we wish him well in his future endeavors."
And when he goes home I will lose another taxpayer.
ReplyDeleteYep...skim over that whole murder thing.
ReplyDeleteGOV DOESN'T KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A FOOTBALL BAT AND A PAIR OF BASEBALL SHOULDER PADS.
ReplyDeleteCome on Anon 12:32-don't you realize that he's a talented athlete & all that ignorant Baltimoron Raven fans care about is how good he played the linebacker position and could care less about how he got off scot-free with the murder!?
ReplyDeleteIf he would've sucked as a football player though, I betcha they would care about him being implicated in the murder.
What murder thing? The man was cleared of any charges and he is still guilty in the minds of the mindless.
ReplyDeleteIf you say so 12:48, just like good ol' O.J. was cleared of all charges too-right???
DeleteTalk about being mindless.
1248-No one ever found the suit that Lewis wore the night 2 men were stabbed to death. Lewis negotiated a plea agreement dismissed his murder charge in exchange for testimony against his friends as well as a guilty plea to obstruction of justice. Lewis was fined 250K by the NFL.
ReplyDeleteIn 2004, Lewis settled with the daughter of one of the murdered men, preempting a scheduled civil suit. Lewis also reached a settlement with the other murdered mans family.
Call it what you want, but you don't settle if you're innocent. His buddies took the fall(and were acquited), and he paid off families. If it quacks like a duck, it acts like a "saint" after it gets off of murder charges.
O.J. Lewis!
ReplyDeleteWell said 1:55!
ReplyDeleteOmalley should of saved this speach when he is acctually done. His speach should of been more like get out there and get this superbowl boys you too Ray Lewis. Do not let these runawway Colts comeback to our city and win. Stop them at all costs. This would of been better.
