Dear Mr. Albero;
You are cordially invited to participate in the NAACP’s City of Salisbury 2013 Meet the Candidates' Political Forum. The forum will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 7:00 pm, at First Baptist Church. The church is located on the corner of Delaware and Booth Streets in Salisbury.
The forum will give members of our community the opportunity to meet you and ask questions of community interest.
We look forward to seeing you on the January 30, 2013 at First Baptist Church in Salisbury, Md.
Sincerely,
Mary AshantiMary Ashanti, President
I will bet you don't show.
ReplyDeleteHe will show! Big time!!!
ReplyDelete8:17 bet you are wrong. Our new Mayor to be relishes all chances to meet with voters and to answer their questions.
ReplyDeleteWonder if the present Mayor has been invited and if so will he'll will go.
Wear all black there and you will come back with more black, your eye.
ReplyDeleteanonymous 8:17 & 9:17, Not only will I be there but I will also NEVER be afraid of anonymous threats.
ReplyDeleteLadies & Gentlemen, this is EXACTLY why you need a new LEADER in Salisbury. Only a friend of Jimmy would make such a threat.
A great opportunity for the black community to ask questions which concern them and for Joe to voice his ideas. It's no secret that some of Salibury's black neighborhoods are in dire need of help. All the Ireton admin does is nothing more than to "throw a bone" out to the black community in the form of "affordable housing" without any real solutions.
ReplyDeleteNo one can deny that Salisbury is faced with a hugh problem involving young black males and crime quite a bit of it violent. One of the reasons is these boys lack postive male role models in their lives. I would love to see a program implimented perhaps called "The Mayor's Mentoring Program" which pairs those either headed for juvenile deliquency or are already in the system with local college students and/or members of law enforcement. Quite possibly parter with SU's Social Work Program.
^^^^YEAH!
ReplyDeleteI am a little under the weather and won't be able to attend. Will it be taped and shown on PAC 14? I would love to see Jim Ireton exhibit his bad attitude.
ReplyDeleteWhy on earth would PAC 14 show this?
ReplyDeleteWhy wouldn't they 10:58 is the question. They tout themselves as a community channel and what could be more important and what effects more residents of a community than a local election?
ReplyDeleteLets see how much WHISPERING goes on between the mayor and the NAACP, be careful Joe.
ReplyDeleteanonymous 11:50, while I don't believe that will happen, know that Joe Albero holds no special interests anywhere.
ReplyDeleteKnow that I tell it like it is and I will say so Wednesday night.
You want to get to know who I am and what I'm about, come to the meeting.
I will be there.
ReplyDeleteThe NAACP or atleast the Africian American community has to come to grips with the fact that the democratic leadership has failed them and continues to do so. Take for instance Ireton's downtown proposal adding affordable housing. This has nothing to do with housing being affordable but has all to do with Ireton greasing the palms of developers. We need to work with what we have and improve that before building more.
ReplyDeleteAlso maybe I'm off base but it appears to me that the attitude of the NAACP is "what can you do for us." I would like that to change to "what can we all do together" to create postive change.
The NAACP only have one agenda, Me ME ME Me, they could not careless about other races.

Do you know what NAACP stands for? It is about one race, ONE.
Maybe that's why they are focused on a single one?
geesh
Well actually 3:00 their own mission statement states:
ReplyDelete"to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate race-based discrimination."
I would imagine "all persons" means all races.
Now that being said, I think this is antiquated as society has dealt with race discrimination and at this point in time there are far more serious issues facing minorities and certain segments of society such as poverty and a very real cause of it being illegitimacy. Children growing up without a postive father figure in their lives. The high crime rate and murder rate within minorities. Minorities overdependance on government.
I think the NAACP would best be served to get with the times (advance themselves) and start focusing on the matters of the day and not dwell on yesterday's problems that have been already dealt with.
3:22 PM
ReplyDeleteOk maybe I'm wrong. Their title says for the advancement of colored people so ...
Hope you bring back up .
