Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "SALISBURY CITY PARK NOT TO BE SKATEPARK SITE":
Joe, I don't pick up the Daily Times that often, but after seeing this on your blog, I had to when I saw it had a skatepark article.
The article was really nasty. Just one attack after another on the council, including from Rick Pollitt! I was shocked. He didn't just comment on what Cohen said (which wasn't bad), but he pretty much damned the council overall!
How do people really feel about Pollitt? I confess, I voted for him, but I'm pretty disappointed. Now he's blowing off the Salisbury city council. Is there some political game going on we don't know about? I live outside the city limits, but I still think those gals do a good job and don't deserve the beatings they get. Thanks for enlightening us, Joe.
Publishers Notes: While I too rarely go to the Daily Times, you prompted me to do so just to see how it was handled. That being said, allow me to respond.
Let me start by saying, (or should I say, repeating) what I've been saying for years. The Daily Times uses QUOTES from others to bash the City Council. Their agenda is to bring any one and every one down if they disagree, yet they CLAIM they are fair and balanced, which is a complete lie.
County Executive Rick Pollitt, (while a very likable man) has deep roots with Barrie Tilghman and Jim Ireton. Their liberal agenda is what is and has been destroying Wicomico County and Salisbury for years. You can believe one thing here, IF the County Council had chosen to get rid of the residency language where the County Executive documents demand you must be a 5 year resident to qualify to run, I would have run for County Executive instead of Mayor of Salisbury. The Council had the chance recently to rid of that language but instead voted to keep it.
The mere fact that the County purchased that land WAY above what the manufacturing company had paid for it 2 years earlier and now reading that Rick Pollitt is holding onto that land in case that manufacturing company decides to expand, THAT'S A CROCK! Who the County Executive thinks he is USING taxpayers money to retain land for a business, AFTER paying all that money for it is scandalous.
The old Tilghman Administration wants to gain back the control they had 4 years ago. Pollitt would enjoy nothing better than a partner in the City to complete their special interests and runaway rubber stamping on spending.
A VOTE for Joe Albero and Debbie Campbell in April will put an end to their former control once and for all. As for the Daily Times, unless they buy out Salisbury News, they're done. There is absolutely no way they can continue to operate. Advertisers have dropped like there's no tomorrow. The paper is so thin these days with very late news, all they have left is personal attacks like this particular article that might help keep them afloat for a little while longer.
Argue with me all you want, the Daily Times has been failing for years. Their cost has gone up 300% with 90% less content. The younger and upcoming generations have clearly chosen they'll come to Salisbury News instead and no matter what the Daily Times does, their journalistic style even across America is failing.
I strongly recommend all of you go to yesterdays Post and read the comments HERE. Then remember, Pollitt wants NOTHING to do with the City partnership wise because he's SMART, he doesn't want to maintain the Park and would rather get a FREE ride from the City. The County participates next to nothing for the Salisbury Zoo as well, outside the few Hotel/Motel taxes they collect. So of course there's more to it.
Did the Daily Times or the rest of the local MSM tell you any of this, hell no. They just want to be buddies with whomever is in charge. The Daily Times learned a lesson long ago with the Town of Princess Anne. They got so sick of their games, the Town chose to move their advertising to another local newspaper and reduced their advertising overhead by some 90%.
As for Mayor Jim Ireton, the man actually is so delusional, he actually believes his main audience is only the local media. He believes whatever is stated in the Daily Times is gospel to our communities, he's very mistaken. For Ireton to come back calling the Council majority the Council of No's AGAIN in today's Daily Times article is just childish. Jim Ireton flat out KNEW the Skate Park wasn't going to fly. He pushed it with support because he knew he could use yet another failed idea with very minimal research onto the Council just as he did with the Downtown Revitalization Plan, wanting to put 500 Section 8 Housing units in ALL of the Parking Lots in Downtown Salisbury.
This Council, (or at least the majority of them) have been protecting the taxpayers for years. The Daily Times and others only tell half the story and bash the Council majority over and over again. Go read the comments in yesterday's article so I don't have to make this Post a mile long.

KORAN-BURNING PASTOR TERRY JONES TELLS THEBLAZE ABOUT A NEW ANTI-ISLAM FILM SET TO PORTRAY MUHAMMAD AS A ‘CHILD MOLESTER, ASSASSIN & SELF-PROCLAIMED PROPHET’
Terry Jones, the controversial Florida-based pastor best known for burning the Koran and purportedly inciting violence in the Middle East, has partnered with en ex-Muslim named Imran Firasat to produce a new film called, “The Innocent Prophet.” The controversial faith leader spoke to TheBlaze about the project — a movie that holds the potential to infuriate Islamist groups across the globe.
The film’s name may sound familiar. Following radicals’ attacks on U.S. interests on September 11 of this year, the trailer for a separate movie called “The Innocence of Muslims” made international headlines. The spoof, which poked fun at the Prophet Muhammad’s life, sparked furor and was blamed for anti-American violence and sentiment across the Middle East and Northern Africa.
No “The Innocent Prophet,” which a press release from Stand Up America — Jones’ organization — claims is “about the life of the Prophet Muhammad,” is slated for release next month. Of course, it’s no coincidence that the name and purpose of the film mirrors that of “Innocence of Muslims,” especially considering that Jones was a supporter of the first film.

WHOOPI GOLDBERG RETWEETS MASSACRE LIE ABOUT ISRAELIS
Whoopi Goldberg doesn't know much about the current escalation of violence between Israel and Hamas.

SEIU WORKER ASKS MEMBERS TO FALSIFY SIGNATURES TO SINK ANTI-UNION MEASURE
The Service International Employees Union – the same union that will be shutting down traffic around Los Angeles International Airport on Thanksgiving Eve – has admitted that a staffer requested that union members stack a legal petition with fake names to sink it. The petition is the brainchild of former Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan, who wants to put a measure revising public service employee union pensions on the ballot.
Today, SEIU acknowledged that one of its work site organizers had violated the law in order to push its agenda. The SEIU 721 union spokesman explained:
SEIU 721 in no way recommends that its members or anyone else falsify signatures on any petition. We are firmly against that kind of behavior. The email in question was sent without the knowledge of the union’s leadership. The person who sent the email has been disciplined for his action.

BUS EXPLODES IN CENTRAL TEL AVIV: HAMAS TAKES RESPONSIBILITY & REPORTEDLY LAUNCHES ‘ECSTATIC’ CELEBRATION
A large explosion took place on a bus in central Tel Aviv Wednesday. Hamas in Gaza claimed responsibility for the attack it says was carried out by a suicide bomber, reports the Times of Israel. A journalist for Israel Channel 2 quotes his sources in Ramallah reporting Palestinians there celebrated the news and some handed out candy, while another reporter for the Israeli network said the response on the street in Gaza was “ecstatic.”
The BBC’s Gaza reporter Rushdi Abualouf wrote via Twitter that Hamas celebrated as an achievement the Tel Aviv bombing over mosque loudspeakers.

Illinois Works On Driver’s Licenses For Illegals
Illinois’ top leaders said Tuesday that they will push to issue driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants — testing federal strictures and becoming the latest sign that the pendulum has swung away from Arizona-style crackdowns and toward those pursuing a softer line on immigration.
Surrounded by Republicans and Democrats at a news conference, state Senate President John Cullerton said he will try to pass legislation in the coming weeks, and Gov. Pat Quinn said he will sign it if it reaches his desk.
“This is a safety issue that impacts every driver in Illinois, and we should join together to take swift action to save lives,” said Mr. Quinn, a Democrat. “Making sure all motorists, regardless of their background, are licensed and insured will drive economic growth and ease the financial burden on all Illinois motorists.”

STUDENT EXPELLED FOR REFUSING SPYCHIP
A student in a Texas school district has been told she is to be expelled for refusing to wear a student ID badge that essentially places her in an “electronic concentration camp.”
“Regimes in the past have always started with the schools, where they develop a compliant citizenry,” John Whitehead, president of the Rutherford Institute said. “They are getting students used to living in a total surveillance state where there will be no privacy, wherever you go and whatever you text or email will be watched by the government. This is where everything is headed.”
WND previously reported on the case of Andrea Hernandez, a student at John Jay High School in the Northside Independent School District in San Antonio, Texas. This year, the school implemented a new program requiring students to wear badges containing an RFID chip, which would be used to track them anywhere they went, including the restrooms. Hernandez refused to wear the chip, citing privacy and religious issues.

OB/GYNs Back Over-The-Counter Birth Control Pills
No prescription or doctor's exam needed: The nation's largest group of obstetricians and gynecologists says birth control pills should be sold over the counter, like condoms.
Tuesday's surprise opinion from these gatekeepers of contraception could boost longtime efforts by women's advocates to make the pill more accessible.
But no one expects the pill to be sold without a prescription any time soon: A company would have to seek government permission first, and it's not clear if any are considering it. Plus there are big questions about what such a move would mean for many women's wallets if it were no longer covered by insurance.

Democrats Preparing Candidates In Case Kerry Moves To Cabinet
Democrats in Massachusetts are culling a list of candidates for a 2013 special election should Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) be appointed to President Obama’s cabinet.
Recently-defeated Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) is the most likely pick for the GOP, but Democrats don’t want a repeat of the 2010 special election — when they lost the late-Sen. Ted Kennedy’s seat to Brown — and they’re looking to groom a strong contender to keep the position in their hands.
One of the most obvious candidates, Gov. Deval Patrick, has said he will stay behind the governor’s desk for his full term, which expires in 2014. And, retiring Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.), one of most prominent lawmakers in the country, has also ruled out a bid.

Kevin Clash, Elmo Puppeteer, Resigns
NEW YORK (AP) - Elmo puppeteer Kevin Clash has resigned from "Sesame Street" in the wake of an allegation that he had sex with an underage youth.
In its statement Tuesday, Sesame Workshop said "the controversy surrounding Kevin's personal life has become a distraction that none of us want," leading Clash to conclude "that he can no longer be effective in his job."
"This is a sad day for Sesame Street," the company said.
In a statement of his own, Clash said "personal matters have diverted attention away from the important work Sesame Street is doing and I cannot allow it to go on any longer. I am deeply sorry to be leaving and am looking forward to resolving these personal matters privately."

GOP LEGALLY BARRED FROM FIGHTING VOTE FRAUD
Voting machines suspiciously defaulting to Barack Obama? Buses loaded with strangers appearing at polling stations? Even ballots turning out 100 percent for one candidate in precinct reports?
In short, suspicions of vote fraud?
That’s too bad, because a race-based consent decree negotiated by Democrats against the Republican National Committee a generation ago still has tied the RNC’s hands, and GOP officials could be cited for contempt – or worse – if they try to make sure American elections are clean.

Trailer On Waller Road Total Loss
Firefighters from Delmar and Hebron quickly arrived to Waller Road in West Salisbury and took immediate control of a trailer that caught fire moments ago.
Fortunately the trailer was not occupied. It was being used to house some cats the property owners had taken in. We know one of the cats got out and we're not sure about the other two.
Fire Marshall's were on the scene trying to find out what caused the fire.

Tomb Of The Unknown Soldier Disrespect Not Tolerated
Taking the expression “some people just don’t think!” to a new level, Lindsey Stone thought she was being funny when she posted a picture of herself giving the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery "the finger" - the middle finger - while appearing to shout at the national memorial in October. After posting the pic toFacebook, somehow thinking her friends would enjoy the photo, she most definitely found out otherwise. As of Monday, the backlash has been severe for Stone.

There's Another Massive Source Of Energy Coming, And The World Has George W. Bush To Thank
Citi's commodities team believes Iraqi oil production is set to explode in the coming years, causing prices to turn downward.
In a massive survey helmed by analyst Edward Morse, Citi's team projects Brent crude to fall to $99 next year.
One of the main reasons: Iraq's oil production is poised to reach heights never seen in its history — neither prior to America's 2003 invasion nor in Iraq's '80s heyday.
Army, Navy Suicides At Record High
We are now averaging more than one suicide per day for active duty military. This is a topic I have covered before, most recently in my post Anti-Suicide Nasal Spray Coming to Keep Troops From Killing Themselves. This is an absolute national disgrace.
From USA Today:
With six weeks left in the year, the Army and Navy are already reporting record numbers of suicides, with the Air Force and Marine Corps close to doing the same, making 2012 the worst year for military suicides since careful tracking began in 2001.
The deaths are now occurring at a rate faster than one per day.
When Army suicides among those on active duty and demobilized status are combined, the number exceeds the 207 soldiers who have died so far this year in Afghanistan, a difference further skewed because some of those combat zone deaths were also suicides.
We are living in a sick society that is getting sicker and sicker each day. We must turn this around and the only way to do so is to get the facts to people and shake them out of their apathy.

Alston Cannot Be Reinstated, AG Says
Former Maryland Delegate Tiffany Alston is still barred from office despite a reduction of her sentence on misconduct charges, according to an opinion issued Tuesday evening by the state attorney general's office.
Democratic Gov. Martin O'Malley asked the office on Friday to review Ms. Alston’s status after her lawyers argued that she should be allowed to reclaim her seat after completing her sentence of community service. Ms. Alston pleaded guilty last month to charges that she used campaign funds to pay for her wedding.
After the Prince George’s Democrat has completed the required community service, a judge reduced her sentence to probation.
Democracy And Majority Rule
President Barack Obama narrowly defeated Gov. Mitt Romney in the popular vote 51 percent to 48 percent. In the all-important Electoral College, the difference was larger, with Obama winning 303 electoral votes and Romney 206. Let's not think so much about the election's outcome but instead ask: What's so good about democracy and majority rule?
How many decisions in our day-to-day lives would we like to be made through majority rule or the democratic process? How about the decision to watch a football game or "Law and Order"? What about whether to purchase a Chevrolet Volt or a Toyota Prius? Would you like the decision of whether to have turkey or ham for Thanksgiving dinner to be made through the democratic process? Were such decisions made in the political arena, most of us would deem it tyranny.
The founders of our nation held a deep abhorrence for democracy and majority rule. The word democracy appears in neither of our founding documents: our Declaration of Independence and Constitution. In Federalist Paper No. 10, James Madison wrote, "Measures are too often decided, not according to the rules of justice and the rights of the minor party, but by the superior force of an interested and overbearing majority."

The proposal is on the agenda for Tuesday's meeting in Baltimore of the legislative committee of the Marcellus Shale Advisory Commission.

Eric Loatman, who was unable to produce receipts for the merchandise he allegedly purchased in New Jersey, was brought back to Troop 7 in Lewes where he was subsequently charged with Trademark Counterfeiting. The Navy Ordered Three Huge Assault Ships To Turn Around And Go Straight To Israel
Just settling in for the trans-Atlantic crossing that would bring them home to the States for the holidays, the sailors and Marines aboard the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group got the call to turn around and head to Israel.
The USS New York, USS Iwo Jima, and the USS Gunston Hall had all been winding down six month deployments when the Pentagon ordered the group on reserve to help Americans looking to get out of Israel in the coming days.
Barbara Starr at CNN reports one official said: "'This is due diligence. It is better to be prepared should there be a need ... the ships would be used only for assisting Americans and not for any combat role."
