Do you have any advice for me?
I purchased one of those Delmarva Daily Deal coupons a while back. It was for auto detailing, a $60 value that I paid $30 for. I have tried many times to make an appt. to have my car detailed but each time it is progressively worse to the point now that no one answers. (My very first call was, at the time, just very odd that he had no time in the month that I wanted the appointment giving all sorts of excuses including his going on vacation. Then it progressed to 'I'll call you back" and now he doesn't answer at all. I recently managed to get him to answer when I called from a different phone number but he gave me the same I'll call you back line. This is a "we come to you" business, not a brick and morter shop.
Should I just throw in the towel and cut my losses for this $30 ripoff?
Thank you.
Start by posting the company name so no one else gets suckered by them
ReplyDeleteI would contact Delmarva Deals.
ReplyDeleteI can not attest to it being the same person, but there is this guy going around for the last year, with flyers. He came to our business a couple of times selling detailing. No name, no company name, simply a phone number. My first thought was .... something isn't kosher about that, so I threw the flyers out. He was just back a few weeks ago selling gift certificates. Claims he sold a boat load to the girls at Coastal Hopsice. I again threw the flyer out. I wouldn't let anyone without a company name near my vehicle, I highly doubt he has liability insurance. You could file a complaint with the Attny General's Office, but who ya gonna sue a phone number? Bet ya Delmar Deals doesnt touch it with a 10' pole. they will claim it isnt their problem.
ReplyDeleteI had this happen and it was Crystal Clean Auto Care. The guys last name is Scearce.
ReplyDeleteThe guy was a total schumck about this as well. He rescheduled 3 seperate times, each time coming up with a reason to not show up. The fourth time he finally showed but only did a half ass wash job, no detail, and told my wife he was done. He claimed he had a job to be at in Delaware. After an exchange my wife told him to leave.
I contacted the company that runs Daily Deals, WBOC. I can not remember the womens name I spoke to but she is the main contact for operating the website. If you call WBOC and ask they should have no problem connecting you to her. She was very accomidating.
I explained my situation to her. I was not the only one that he has done this too.
She explained that they do not ordinarily issue refunds.Whatever! I explained that she has a responsibility to the community to not allow low-life and fly by nite companies to operate on their website. That she allowed this person to operate in a untrustworthy manner. etc.
Do not take no for an answer and bring up the fact that Joe was nice enough to let you address this in an open forum.
Our time frame was that we bought the coupon in the spring, I want to say April. He did not make it out to our house until August.
I am interested in knowing when you bought yours becasue I let WBOC know that if his ad appeared again in their website they would be liable because I alerted them to the fraudulant behavior and she agreed that it I was not the only one complaining. SHe stated that they voluntarily removed him from their site permenantly. Just checking if she was full of it our not.
Its funny because I told the guy on the phone "how long do you think you can keep this up?" I wanted to post this on here as well but since Igot satisfaction from WBOC I choice to let it go.
Good luck,
Citizen Dave
Dispute it with your credit card company.
ReplyDeleteWBOC also have "hard sales" selling advertizing on their 4:00 show. If a company does not have the money to advertize they dont have it. They just keep hammering away. I know times are hard now but when they get better and we have the money to advertize we will do so somewhere else.
ReplyDeleteWhen this list came out I noticed several unlicensed "companies" on there...It will come back to bite them.
@ Citizen Dave,
ReplyDeleteIn Mr. Searcey's defense, he runs the company ALONE & rarely has help. I think when he offered his services on Delmarva Deals he didn't realize that he would get so much business. Detailing cars takes alot of time, especially alone or with little help. He actually does an amazing job as I've had my vehicle cleaned and detailed by him numerous times. In the summer it is very hard for me to get an appointment with him because he is always so busy- I think had you addressed the issue with him he'd have been willing to do the detail over again.
Has anyone thought to check out Ryan Searcey on Maryland Judiciary Case Search?
ReplyDelete@sbygrl16, just because he runs his company alone doesn't mean that he cannot return phone calls.
ReplyDelete@anon 9:52, i checked him out and lets just say that based on his judiciary case search, he's not someone i'd want coming to my house to clean my car...
I love the DelmarvaLife show and have never seen an unlicensed business on there??
ReplyDeleteThe daily deal has been great to me as well, sorry you are going through the trouble though. Definatley contact the daily deal reps at WBOC.
Crystal clean does a great job. ryan is a very nice and honest person despite his trouble a few years back. they do a awsome job on my car weekly. he told me he had some trouble with the daily deals. First the were marketed wrong on behalf of wboc.. the daily deal was a inside/out wash not a detail. Who would expect a detail for $30? i will continue to support this business. Crystal clean also is lis. and insured. thank you
ReplyDeleteDavid is the one who called and threatned ryan ..saying if he did not come back and shampoo his wifes truck for $50 he was going to have a personal prob. So he then contacted Marcy with wboc to adress her with the situation. He then wanted to continue to cuss ryan and threatned him with matt mazziroli that he played football and rambled on like he was some big shot.. I Know ryan very well..His intention was not to rip anyone off trust me.

ReplyDelete"I Know ryan very well..His intention was not to rip anyone off trust me"
That may not have been his intention but, it sounds to me like that is exactly how many of these people feel. Along with the fact that WBOC is taking an appologetic apporach to the problem I would say that these people have a point. And that WBOC backs up that point. So in the arena of public opinion it would appear Ryan Scearce has a problem that he should have dealt with when he had the chance.
1:47, I'm sure you do know Ryan very well,Sherri. lol. I wouldn't trust either of you!
